What are your experiences and views on corsets?
As we know (in general as most people aren't too well-versed on their history!) people are taught that corsets were invented in the 1800s to oppress women by crushing their waist in unnatural proportions.

Personally, I like the way it looks. It enhances the hourglass figure! Nothing wrong with making the waist 2-3 inches smaller.. though something is wrong with forcing that on every "respectable" woman.

I appreciate the aesthetic of corsets. I also appreciate that they are now a choice to wear or not

I used to wear them pretty often. I still have some of them. I'll post a picture later!

Oh my!

On a more serious note, I don't mind as long as they are not painful for the wearer or do any damage. Very classical, I am not too familiar, they are usually worn underneath a tunic or dress or such, so they're not really all that visible, although they have to be put on and taken off slowly and with care.

I like them. I find them to be a very fashionable accessory.

Yeah, I like them as well. Very appealing.

I read an article about a woman who tried wearing one on a regular basis, and loved it because it gave her really great back support, and she liked her figure with it on as well.

It was an interesting article, I'll try to dig it up.

Hey, I read that article too! I was going to talk about that article when I saw the title of this topic.

I actually want to start wearing corsets because of it. I think wearing a corset would be much better than a bra.. I really hate bras. I would wear sports bras everywhere, but it wouldn't look right with some of the shirts I wear.

Amen to that, sister.

Yep, that's a side benefit--it's great for posture.
