I'm about to be a Junior and this class is frustrating. I didn't try this year because I failed with a 69 in Freshman Year and passed the major Test [in UK /Fr/whayever 69 is passing.. I'm going to let that sink in ] and now I ended the year with a 75 but failed exam with a 35. I just want to drop out.. they place too much emphasis on Math but not anything else so this is bad for me. I'm almost sixteen in July. I don't need this. It was a waste of time..

Awe I'm sorry. That really sucks. I hated algebra in school, my teacher was a douche and never made any sense. Luckily I had awesome friends and we helped each other a tad lol. Do you have any friends that could help?

I always failed it too. I tried tutors but never understood math, I graduated from college though so don't worry and do not stress about this, I really think you should have someone explain it to you though like a trained professional I mean and you will ace it before you even know it but in the meantime don't sweat it.

I was failing math once. And then I ignored the teacher and paid attention to the textbook and it all clicked. I went from a F to one who scored a 110 on the semester exam (the only one to get the bonus question right) and found myself tutoring others in class. I told them to do the same and it worked for some of them.

Just sharing in case that can help you, too.

And if it helps, think of it as a puzzle game (no, not the one where Pinhead comes gets you when you solve it --hey, that might make a fun story, your teachers as demons stuck in Hell until enough solve the math problems, it can be a parody of the Hellraiser movies, I'm sure you'll only get a month suspension for writing it ).

Also, what really helps is a workbook and answer key that explains each step of the problem and has the answer right there. You try to work the problem first and then check it and if you made a mistake, all the steps are right there in the answer key so you aren't mystified by how they reached the correct answer. If you can find something like this, you will start seeing how they arrive at the answers. Order of operations clearly explained each time. This is a big help

I never understood algebra. Unless you're an engineer, it's worthless. Don't fret over it.

Is is linear and vector algebra or basic algebra? As a person who loves and is really good in math, my advice for you if youre gonna do algebra again or any advanced mTh after it is ractice! Talk to your teacher, ask questions, do the homework and stay focused. Math is a language like any other you have to practice work at it and you will get good, trust me!! Good luck sweetie

If it makes you feel better I failed ALL my math classes between Grade 1 and High school then when I moved to USA at the age of 21 something happened and I knew everything because at that point it all became pure logic to me.

Also, don't feel bad because not knowing math or any other subject! Perhaps concentrate on the things you really enjoy instead?

Yep, that's the key. Practice and make sure you understand the steps. You will be a whiz in not time. You might even find you have devoted so much time to understanding math and have acquired it as a skill, that you go on to major in math. This happens frequently with ppl who do not understand math well at first. It's because they put so much extra time and effort in. Math is one the most practical subjects to major in and an excellent choice! So don't give up. Just put a lot of time and effort in and it will just click.
