I agree. "Can" is the key word. I don't think it can be chalked up to any one emotion or reason. We are very complex beings.

And especially for women, I think hormones and other physiological factors often come into play more than we realize or acknowledge.

I had depression that turned to anger back in the day.

Yes, I've had this and find often that reflex correlates to masochistic behaviour. And that masochism is sadism turned inwards.

I had a spiritual 'guru' of sorts who deliberately triggered anger to heal me but I've sun-Chiron and I just don't think I know how to exist without pain = depression.

I think it's inability to let go. We often attach ourselves too much to something, whether it's someone, material thing, our emotions, especially anger and fear.

I struggled with fear of rejection and failure, still do sometimes. And this inability to let go of those fear make me feeling stuck and hopeless. In other word depressed.

I'm now learning to let go. I'm learning to accept that sometimes, thing doesn't go the way I planned, and that is not my fault, and it doesn't always mean bad thing, either. It just part of life journey.

I started realizing that my depression was anger.

My mother was nasty to me and I did not ignore it, gloss over it, etc.

I said in a very strong voice that I did not want to continue this discussion.

I repeated it until she said she did not want to talk to me anymore.

Then, I realized I was not depressed any more.

I will be back.

We were on a one lane road and the person was tailgating an RV

I am super cop like when it comes to driving. Driving school says to stay 3 car lengths behind cars and I told the person I was nervous about the driving.

He was not nice about it at all. In fact, he was nasty.

I settled down for a half hour of being nervous.

THEN, I said that if he ever wanted me to do any more favors for him, he better stop driving in a way that made me uncomfortable.

The rest of the way, he pulled over and let every tailgating person pass and did not tailgate himself.

The moral of the story is that I valued and honored my anger because I am worth it and you are too

I could not understand my mother for the life of me. I could not stop thinking about it. I could not stop trying to figure out what was her deal.

Now, through several experiences, most especially, my son working with someone just like her, I feel I can let it go.

My son realized it was hopeless to ever make head way with this person.

There was no "winning her over". There was no way to form a relationship that had any stability.

I saw my son go through it and be tormented by it, just like I was.

He could not understand and he could not make sense.

My take away lesson is a combination of factors.

Winston Churchill said if you had no enemies, it means you made no difference.

However, more than that, I realize that it is only my own reaction I can control.

I don't have to sit and wait for what another person will do to me( or won't)

I can control my side of any issue, only.

That is a tremendous peace. Thanks for listening!
