I just saw this video on youtube and I was completely blown away by this guy's ignorance. In fact this video was so offensive that I couldn't even finish the whole thing. He basically labels all people who have psychological problems like autism/asperger's or bipolar as lazy people who use their diagnosis as a crutch. In his mind it's all fake and people just need grow up and deal with it. The irony of the whole thing is people like me wouldn't need "a label" if there weren't ignorant azz people like this guy taking up space in the world and making life h*ll for people who are different.

The title alone made me cringe, and I didn't even get around yet to hearing what I knew would be some BS. I couldn't listen to the whole thing actually. Don't bother with people like that, please. His opinion validates nothing. Just focus on you, AG and people who actually understand whatever you're going through. Ignorance is the status quo.

Did you get to the part where he equated people with Aspergers with whiny BS feminists? I can see that being where you backed out, but if it was before that then I do believe you made the right choice to back out when you did.

Still, I don't see a point of his vid...at the end he says he's not wasting his life with it but he wasted the time to make that video which takes a lot more time than the time posted on YT. Offhand (and also glancing at the titles of some of his other vids) I think he' just being a "shock jock" trying to offend in order to get views which feeds into his ego (sort of like a troll but he probably thinks of himself more like Rush Limbaugh) and if I'm correct then you played into his hands by posting a link here.

I wasn't impressed with his argument, he gets a lot of things wrong (that he wouldn't with even some basic fact checking) that have nothing to do with controversial labels which makes his primary argument fall apart in my book. He obviously did no research but blathered an uninformed opinion based wholly on his subjective view (that he, like many, mistakes for an objective reality universal to all people) and some internet gifs (probably the only thing he has the attention span to read in full).

No,I didn't even notice that. Maybe you are right and he is trolling but I don't think he is. You'd be surprised how many people really have his views on mental/psychological disorders, especially old farts.

I don't let it bother me. You know the attitude that I have is?

Same applies to people who just flat out despise certain signs.

If this guy is serious (didn't watch the video). Well I trust that one day he may cross paths with somebody that he really likes and admires. Someone he respects. Later after it's too late he'll discover that they face one of these battles. Maybe he'll see it first hand but care about the person so much that his ignorant view doesn't come through.
If that's not the case, we'll never know but it's good enough for me to believe it.

It's important to not internalize other people's problems.

This guy's opinions are HIS problem, no one else's. He could say Aspies glow in the dark every night and it would have as much credibility as anything else he is talking about. But who would bother to react to such silliness, or get angry that he said Aspies glow in the dark?

It's not worth the mental energy to engage with him.

Well it doesn't just upset me because i'm offended by what he said. I think his mindset on the issue is rampant in the United States and it's probably one of the biggest reasons we have a mental health crisis. People just don't take psychology/psychiatry seriously and all it does is hurt them and people they know. I know this from personal experience because I dealt with it when I was a kid. When my family found out that mom was taking me to see a psychiatrist because it was suspected I had asperger's they flipped their sh*t and brainwashed me into believing that going to a psychiatrist was only for crazy people. Before my family told me all of this I was enjoying my visits with my doctor and felt it was helping but after all of the stuff my family said I felt ashamed and refused to go. People like the guy in the video rub me the wrong way because I could have gotten the help I needed when I was younger if it hadn't been for people and their ignorance. I can't help but wonder how many people wouldn't have committed suicide or done something crazy if they had sought help. And I also can't help but wonder how many of those people would have sought help if psychological problems were actually taken seriously and going to a doctor wasn't so stigmatized.

Don't mind his feeble brain. He can't keep up with yours.

I do enjoy being lazy though.

I've been explaining Aspergers to my nine year old. We enjoy this little movie made by "Arthur," whose founder has Aspergers. I think you'll enjoy this because we can all relate. In my family, all four of us have it.

Likewise. Have a Merry Christmas.

Mitchell is really sick and we are intervening. Sorry to be autistic here, but Mitchell is dying and needs multiple transplants.

Glad you like the Arthur movie.

I'm sorry, I will be praying for him and your family. I hope everything goes smoothly and he will get well soon. He is a tough kid and has already been through alot so I bet everything will work out.
