I am an Alice Miller fan. If you don't know who she is, she is a real advocate for abused children. She is a ground breaker in the field of healing from abuse.

I have studied her books for years and she has an amazing website, but one of her ideas just clicked in.

It was from talking to my father. My mother really abuses my father but my father always feels sorry for HER.

Alice Miller says that the person who is stuck as the victim( through no fault of his own other than conditioning and the inability to know HOW to get out) always feels sorry for the abuser.

If anyone is an abuser, my father will always ask about the kind of life THEY had.

It just hit from a conversation I just had with my mother that I give her pass upon pass upon pass to treat me badly because I feel sorry for you when I should feel sorry for ME because I am taking it.

I know I always did. Despite the sadness and guilt that I felt when I shouldn't have, that was always my biggest problem. I took the blame for everything, even when majority of the time it was never my fault. I naturally put myself in other's shoes and I'm learning how not to do so as much, it's dangerous.

Eliminating the problem and finding myself is what saved me. I still learn new things about myself everyday. I've made mistakes and I'm still learning to stop them from repeating. Abuse is something that I never want repeated in my life. It breaks my heart when I think of all of the people out there being abused. It's truly heart breaking.

I feel sorry for you dad as well, that's not fair.

I'm proud of your courage. You are a very strong woman.

I have stopped taking responsibility for what others dish out. I don't see why I should be weighed down by what I own, and what others can't (or refuse to) own about themselves.

That is very good, Teasel. How is your stomach doing?

I've hardly eaten anything, and I'm not throwing up bile right now (in lieu of food itself), so it's okay right now, thanks. In a bad attack, sometimes it's easier to just drink water or gatorade - it makes it easier to get it over with, clears the stomach out, and doesn't burn up your throat and mouth with that disgusting stuff.
