On a scale from 1-10, if you could have one 10, one 7 and one 6 in the areas of intelligence, self esteem and beauty, which would you take?
IOW, how would you rank them. You can choose one rating for each attribute.------------------

Ummmm.... I would pick intelligence - 7, self esteem - 10, and physical beauty - 6.
Because I'm thinking, if my self-esteem is so high - I'll be able to improve my intelligence levels and go higher from 7... and also improve my appearance through fitness and eating healthy  But if my self-esteem is low, that would drag me down.. and make me see things in a negative light.
So even if I had a 10 for intelligence and 10 for looks - with low self esteem, I wouldn't be aware of it and I probably wouldn't be very productive...
I might be depressed, so both my looks and brains would be wasted. IP: Logged |

Yours makes a lot of sense, Odette. Also, people with self esteem SEEM beautiful, too. I remember one girl in college. She was soo attractive to people, even though she was not that beautiful because she had an amazing spirit. ------------------

3.IntelligenceI picked beauty first because having good looks usually leads to lots of external validation and thus self esteem.furthermore, its no secret that good looking people are usually more popular and those connections help them when it comes to their careers as well. Like the old saying goes "It's not what you know, It's who you know". And Good looking people clearly have an advantage in that area. So yeah, I would rather be hot than intelligent. IP: Logged |

Thats true. But beauty fades. Intelligence fades much later if it fades at all, and for most people it doesnt. The good looking ones have a harder time aging... esp if they are used to getting by on looks! I am starting to see it already in my 20s. The ones that were hot highschoolers that got less hot once they hit college age are having a harder time. I must ask you... die young and leave a beautiful corpse? IP: Logged |

That hasn't been my experience at all. My experience is good looks typically go hand and hand with wealth. And people who are wealthy don't age as poorly as people who are poor.
