This thread is calling for a revision of policy regarding insistently aggressive expression and articulation of opinions on sensitive subjects.This thread is to collect the signatures of any members who agree with the following: Comments that degrade and insult all members of any group, including gender, are not permissible in this forum. While minor complaints are bound to happen from time to time, persistent attacks, deeply offensive comments, and sexual insults are prohibited, just as every other form of bigotry is disallowed. This forum should be moderated to ensure that the forms of speech described above are prevented, contained, warned against and/or punished. When moderation consistently fails to ensure these protections, a change of moderator is in order. Please reply in the following way, or not at all. I agree with this statement.

I thought we already decided that gender experiences should now be relayed in general terms. I will clarify in another post. You should add to the OP that personal insults are never allowed, no matter if you agree with the views of said person or not. Once you personally insult, you make whatever point you are attempting to convey a moot one. And when a Mod calls you on it, he or she is doing the job a Mod is supposed to do. Such insults are to be prevented, contained, warned against and/or punished. And just because you don't personally like a Mod, that doesn't change the fact that you should heed warnings against personal insults. There is never an excuse to hurl insults here. Never. Ever. AG, please generalize your statements in the future, and also refrain from overgeneralization, to the extent that you lump all women in the same category. In other words, feel free to relate your personal experiences, but do not put down or judge a whole gender. Thank you, sir.

The Mods follow my direction. When someone insults, they get called on it, and threads may be closed. Ami, please, be careful not to insult when you admonish. I see a lot of insults hurled at Ami. While she doesn't care, it looks disrespectful to Newflakes. Personal insults will no longer be tolerated. I don't care who you are. And I'm looking to make an example out of soneone. I agree with this statement.On the topic of insults, if a member FEELS insulted by someone's comment and other members see that it is reasonable for said member to feel insulted.... THEN that should be counted as a bona-fide insult regardless of a mods personal opinion on the matter. IP: Logged |

Sorry, Faith, to contribute to the flow disruption of the petition, but I think personal insults such as "you are a ******** " are already reprimanded as part of the policy of LL. The issue here seems to be mostly about gender bashing.I think it's important to point out that when someone bashes a gender, a race etc. that person will face a personal attack as consequence. It is human nature and this is how it works, it's unavoidable. Luckily for all of us, nowadays people bashing an entire group of people (race, gender) for their problems in such a manner are met with reprobation and put to a wall. Nobody can expect a different treatment. It is understandable to have some occasional "men always do that, women always do that" especially on this forum, but I think we can all agree this went beyond such a situation.
