Ever since my friend had the wreck (that ultimately costed him his life) I've become more aware of how dangerous it is to get into a vehicle. You are literally putting your life in jeopardy everytime you get into one because there are so many things that can happen on the road that are completely out of your control. Just today I decided to drive to the mountains to clear my head from all that has happened. And as I was driving down the highway some bozo came to a sudden and complete stop in the middle of the highway for no apparent reason and I had to quickly swerve over into the left lane to avoid hitting them. I was lucky because there was nobody in that lane but if there had been a car there I would have been toast. It would have been a situation where a car accident was unavoidable no matter what split second decision I made. And it would have been because some bozo bowed up and stopped in the middle of the road. There are so many people on the road that can't drive its scary. You have left lane losers, people who refuse to use turn signals,people who come to complete stops when they are turning, people who use their turn signals too late, people who make rash decisions like pulling out in front of cars that are traveling at high speeds, old people that have no business driving etc. And that's not even covering the bozos that get behind the wheel of a car when they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Its dangerous out on the roads so always be careful if you have to drive. I've had my share of near misses thanks to all the careless and reckless drivers on the road. Frankly, if I lived in a city that had a good public transportation system I wouldnt be driving because it's just too dangerous. I don't want to end up being a statistic because some idiot can't follow basic driving rules. IP: Logged |

I don't think you are getting the point of my post at all. My point is being on the roads is dangerous because there are so many people on the roads who aren't smart and don't make good decisions. You can be a smart person and a good driver but that doesn't change the fact that there are tons of idiots on the roads and their bad decisions and idiocy can cause accidents and get you killed. You can't blame the world for getting in your way. Scream into the sky all you want, nothing will happen. All you can do is be careful yourself and learn to work around how **** the world is.The thing is you can get sooo mad when people drive ****** , but when you happen to not use a turn signal one day its because you were too busy or if you change lanes quickly its because you are in a hurry for an important thing and you cant be late. Everyone has their own reasons. If you can actually learn to be more understanding of other people them youll find that you have an easier more stress free life. But drunk driving I have no sympathy for. For some reason it seems like the drunk drivernever dies in those accidents either, just everyone else... IP: Logged |

Did I hit too close to home for you by calling out bad drivers BansheeQueen? BTW, I always use my turn signals correctly and follow all the rules of the road. Furthermore, I do not text or talk on the phone when i'm driving so I don't want to hear any attitude from you. It's not a matter of me being irritated that people are getting in my way. It's a matter of people being careless,reckless, and just damn idiotic when they get behind the wheel of a car. IP: Logged |

I'm sorry about your friend.

That's fine if you can't/don't tip toe...as you can see, neither do I 😊. Tip toeing has nothing to do with lacking in grace by making a conscious decision to point out someone's flaws when they're hurting.

Another scary thing is stop and go traffic. I was on the high way driving to work this morning and every three seconds the cars would stop--then go--then stop then go etc. I like looked down for a second idr why and when I looked up bam the car was feet away I slammed on the breaks but I still hit her. It was like bumper cars! Lol anywaysDriving is dangerous.. I went to a really unsafe area lately which is poor and crappy and literally everyone there drives like maniacs or they break the law. And I'm talking about Lake Worth FL I do not recommend anyone go there BTW I'm super sorry about your friend. IP: Logged |

The topic of the thread is how dangerous it is to drive on the roads due to careless drivers. That is an objective truth and only a moron would say it isn't. People get into accidents all the time because of these idiots. So yes, it agitated me when she made that snarky post and made it all about me as. She also implied that I'm just mad because people get in my way and I'm impatient which isn't the case. If you'll read my post you'll see that I didn't complain about slow drivers. It's possible that shevhought that's what I meant when I mentioned the near miss I had yesterday because some idiot just bowed up and stopped in the middle of the highway. My anger at that situation had nothing to do with them being in my way and everything to do with the fact that I had to quickly swerve into the other lane to avoid hitting them. Again, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that coming to a complete stop in the middle of a highway where the rest of the cars are going 60 miles per hour is dangerous and puts your life and everyone behind you at risk. I worry about the cops that don't do anything about the bad drivers. I also worry about the cops that are bad drivers themselves and contribute to the problem.

Did you even read her post? She was the one being argumentative and looking for a fight when she made the issue all about me. Am I supposed to take that on the chin? I wanted to have an open discussion about the issue (how dangerous it is to drive on the road) without it devolving into this crap. And yes, this issue is somewhat personal for me because my friend died from traumatic brain injuries he sustained in a car wreck and it made me angry that she responded the way she did. I don't even think she read the whole post based off of her response and that also irritated me.IP: Logged |

I don't have a problem understanding that. I just saw a video of that exact thing yesterday. It popped up on my Facebook. (Dark van stopped to catch an exit, nearly missed being hit by a semi) I have a lot of thoughts about it. Most similar to yours but I've just decided in my heart that I can only do my part and getting angry doesn't change anything but my mood.

@AGI learned a way to stop people tailgaiting me. It was from my days in Social Psych, which is the most amazing field for learning about life. People will do things when they are anonymous that they would never do if you could see their face. With the tailgaiting, I act as if I know the person. I wave and act like I am a neighbor or a friend. 95% of them stop doing it. That brings me to people who harass people on the internet. It is the same thing. People are behind a computer screen, so they can try to get out their rage and anger at someone in the same way that people tailgate me. It is a 7 year lesson learned but I could not have my website, if I would get into a fight with everyone who harassed me. I would be too busy  ------------------
