I want to become fruitarian for many spiritual and ethical reasons-however-just _what_ do I say to people who don't understand, or laugh at me? My parents, will definitely have huge issues with it.IP: Logged |

Hi Aurora,Have you read Star Signs? Linda explains there how to safely become a fruitarian over a 15 year period (if you are an adult, longer if you are a child or teenager). That gives everyone a nice long time to get used to it - including you! I can give you the whole thing if you don't have the book. IP: Logged |

Good question! I don't know....If I became one I would probably be the laughing stock of my friends and family...but, it's important for you to do it if that's what you believe in. I would tell them you're doing it for health reasons so you don't sound as weird. Good luck and keep you head up!IP: Logged |

Here are some links on fruitarianism, from both a positive and negative perspective (at the very least, the negative ones will provide you with examples of the kinds of arguments you will probably hear from other people): http://hem.fyristorg.com/fruitarian/ http://www.islandnet.com/~arton/fruitext.html http://www.living-foods.com/articles/fruitarianprocon.html http://venus.nildram.co.uk/veganmc/laurie.htm http://www.sunfood.net/fruitarianism.html http://www.beyondveg.com/nicholson-w/hb/hb-interview3h.shtml IP: Logged |

Oh, I almost forgot - this is what the Bible says about fruitarianism (will only convince people who believe in the Bible of course):Genesis Chapter 1 Verse 29 - Then God said, "I now give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the entire earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food". However, most Christians will argue that this diet was just for Adam and Eve, and did not apply after the Fall. IP: Logged |
