I've been asked to share this with you by a friend who thought it was a good idea.

For ice packs, I freeze ocean water. I pour some into an ice tray and put plastic wrap over it. I also put some in plastic baggies and freeze it so it's flat. I use it on my wrist, so I put the baggie in a small bowl, so it won't be too large. When I want to use the ice, I put it in a washcloth and let it melt to release the healing qualities in the ocean water. I get a little wet, but it feels much nicer than a store bought ice pack.

For heat packs, I use sand instead of a heating pad. I bought a package of tube socks and filled them with sand from the beach. During the summer, I leave one outside and the sand gets hot enough to use. During the winter, I toss the sock in the microwave. It may lose some of the healing qualities from the microwave, but I'm sure it's still a lot better than an electric heating pad.

Does anyone else have any homeade remedies for stuff?

Morning Storm I am a looonnnggg way from the ocean but I wonder if sea salt would have the near energy as ocean water?

I make heat packs out of socks, dried beans (or rice) and cinnamon. Also dried mint leaves ( any). Lavendar is good too. I love the aromatherapy coupled with the heat.

Oh, I lay it in sun in summer & microwave in winter. It makes the house smell so good.

I also make trivets (for sitting hot bowls, pots on) out of a pretty durable cloth & sew in rice & cinnamon. When you sit the hot bowl on it on the table the scent is wonderful.

peace, juniperb

Juniperb, sea salt has the same Power in Wicca and other forms of Magick, so it probably would be nearly as good.
