Anyone have a good remedy? I could use it.

I know that a lot of how you suffer with your period has to do with your diet. But that's so hard to control right before your period

Help. Someone?

I know they suck!

Do you have calcium/magnesium pills? I think they help a LITTLE. Exercise is supposed to help, but it's hard to do when you are going thru cramps!

Hmm, I really want to help! I know it's no fun!

Hope they go away SOON!

Thanks! I should be better tomorrow. Luckily they only last about a day or so.

I don't have those pills. I will try it next month though lol

I have a nice cup of soothing chamomile tea waiting...

Have you found that calcium/magnesium works?

Yes it does ease the pain a little. I mean it's not like a painkiller, but it helps!
When buying calcium make sure you get it with calcium citrate in the ingredients, not calcium carbonate, I mean calcium carbonate works and is better than nothing for sure! But the citrate one is much better absorbed by the body.

And for bloating, potassium helps! But don't take too much or you'll be in the toilet alot the next day or so I hear, just kidding, I know LOL

Please don't think I am bossy but since we are women we need to get optimal calcium for our bones! I hope you will consider taking some! I take a Calcium Citrate/Magnesium (helps for cravings during PMS too)/Vitamin D combo.

Ok I feel bossy and am shutting up

You're never bossy! And don't worry, I drink milk (Lactaid milk, so there aren't any unsightly problems) every day.

Potassium, eh? What if I just have a banana?

Mate I know EXACTLY how you feel - you poor bugger!
I got through it every period for a day or two - usually so bad that pain killers don't work! Its becasue of this that i make every effort i can to find the reason i hurt so bad - and to fix it.

Firstly - the diet related thing is partially correct. Apart from what has already been mentioned - Vitamin B12 is so important I can't stress it enough. Are you on the pill? The pill depleats your bodies natural stores of B12 (Amoung other things) - making any cramps worse! And if your a vego you have to be extra careful

Secondly you may have a blockage in either your base, sacral or solar plexus chakra's. Mine was (and still is (The bloody thing is SOOOOO hard to get rid of!!)) in my Sacral Chakra. Try colour therapy, meditating on your chakras, crystal healing etc to try and get rid of these blockages. I KNOW that when my lower chakras are balanced and the energy is flowing properly that i do not get anywhere near as painful periods

Gee I hope you find something to help you soon
LOL

Good point about the vitamin B Nebel. I take nutritional yeast in a little citrus juice (Morgana kindly informed me B gets helped with absorption with C).

Wow- I get sooo much energy from all the B.

Miracle cure - Sesame seeds. Simple but soooo effective. A friend of my ma's told me about them while trying to dissuade me from drinking milk. They are SO much more effective than milk ever was for me.
Roast a packet, store them in a dry bottle and take a spoonful whenever you remember. How often you should take them really depends on how low your calcium intake is, but I find that I can just take them the last 10 days and I'm absolutely FINE. Every day of my month is completely painless now.

Nebel-I've never been called a "Bugger" before! I'm not on birth control for various reasons...mostly, itmade me just feel awful. And I take a daily multi-vitamin (chewable-I'm a wimp) which has Vitamin B6 and B12.

Every once in a while, I scrape up some $ and go see a truly magnificent cranialsacral/massage therapist. The cranialsacral work is unbelievably amazing. With just the lightest touch, you can actually, physically, feel things opening up. The last time I went to her, she seemed to think that I had some blockage somewhere in my lower torso (perhaps my liver or thereabouts). I didn't pay attention to the lingo, but whatever she did felt great. It's hard for me to relax at first though. Maybe I should see her again, when I'm about to have my period.

That's interesting Aquamoon, thank you! I might try that. (Although, I must admit, I never liked sesame seeds-I used to scrape them off of hamburger buns, now I just grin and bear it). I'll try anything. How long should I roast them for?

Evening Oil of Primrose is the best! Your body produces these little nasty chemicals call prostaglandins, that cause pain sensitivity, not only during your menses, but during a sprained ankle, a headache, etc. you get the picture. Anyway, Evening Oil of Primrose naturally blocks these little buggers. Yes!! it works.Take one daily, until the week before your menses, then increase to 2-3 daily.....I promise it will help immensely!!!

Thank you La Tee Da! I've always wondered what Evening Primrose Oil was for.
Now I know...and knowing is half the battle.

It's great for acne, too.

That would be heavenly...

I guess people have different afflictions when they menstruate. For the first day or so, my leg will also hurt (could be a nerve, who knows?) and my blood pressure goes waay down (I went to the doctor once and he took my blood pressure 3 times- the first time was 70/40, and the next two times were 80/50), I get dizzy and I can't stand straight.

If there were only a magic pill...

Before my period I do a few funny things. WHen I eat at my desk at work I face inward, so I am not facing anyone, because everyone is already annoying me, imagine if they talked to me too. Then I always cry at least once over something really stupid. I also get flustered and tired and hungry, and crave salty and chocolate.

Yea I know, You guys can't WAIT to be around me at this time!! LOL

Hahaha!

Same here. I usually cry really badly over something-anything-the night before my period. Not always, but a lot of the time. And then the next day, it hits me why I got so emotional. Because you know, air signs just don't do that. hehe

Yes, Fajita, everyone annoys me at work too! Especially one girl. Grrr
