we went to the allergist today..and they tested her for the following allergies..

chocolate
strawberries
mold
tomatoes
yeast
dogs
cats
dust

Yes...8 sticks in all..she was SO brave!! And of those items, the 2 that came back with a welt were yeast and dogs. So our plan of action is this, she will take Zyrtec for 10 days before bed. I am to call him if she breaks out in the mean time. I am not to withhold the dog or any foods/drinks from her in the next 10 days. And of course she didn't break out at all today...you'd think she'd at least have ONE hive on her for him to see...but, I do have pictures that I have emailed to him..

Bernadette,

I am comparing food lists and it appears her body knows it does not like nightshade plants: tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant. They are slighty poisonous and are theorized to aggrevate arthritis.

Also, her mainstay diet has a predominant carbohydrate-yeast by product group. Even though a lot of the yeast dies in the baking process, there is still residue and gases within the textures of their products.

Chocolate has the stimulant Caffeine in it. There are people who are allergic to caffeine and it is probably best to be wary if she drinks sodas, teas, etc.

Mold is naturally occuring and is most active in cold, damp weather and can grow inside older homes, particularly on walls exposed to the outside, and windows.

As for dust mites, regularly laundering of her bedding, vaccuming if you have carpets and drapes, along with an air filter will help out a lot.

I think it would probably be easier and beneficial in the long term to gradually modify her dietary and living habits and wean off any medications. Unfortunately, it appears that the food she loves to eat are making her sick.

Just the Cancer-Virgo mommy in me
