I wanted to ask if anyone here has a blushing problem. I do big time. I blush for no reason at all. I blush when i meet someone and sometimes i dont. I blush when I talk on the phone. Its so spontaneous and out of control, i just wanna crawl in a dark hole where no one can see me. And I dont just turn pink or something like that, i turn bloody red! However, since I started this new job, when i am asked personal questions my heart rate increases, I perspire from head to toe and my ears start to ring. I almost feel like im passing out. How embarissing that would be. Is there anything i can do about this? Anything at all? Thanks IP: Logged |

Drea I have this problem too! it's the feeling of being the focus of someone's attention that gets to me! It's automatic as you say when someone askes you personal questions, or any questions. For me I think it's a control thing because I haven't prepared myself for the answer. It sounds like you are describing a panic attack, with blushing, perspiration, ears ringing. The only thing I can think that can help is breathing exercises. If you can practice them at home you will be able to breathe better when this happens and ground yourself. panic attacks really make you feel a little out of it so it's important to earth yourself and keep your mind focussed on breathing. Also don't be worried about what other people are thinking either, usually they don't even notice and the more you feel embarrassed, the more you heighten everything and loose your balance, so just remember to relax. There is a thread here on panic attacks here, so if you haven't gone there already have a read, you might get something from it. I do think it's hereditary also, my mum, her mum etc. had it too. As Fajita posted you are most certainly not alone. Fajita the salt thing does it for me too, makes me heart race, so I stopped eating added salt and cut down on salty foods as much as possible, it seems to help in the long-run too.IP: Logged |

Quinnie,Thanks for the advice. I think if there was something i could focus on or think about while im starting to blush i would be able to handle them better.
