I have not really used this forum, Health and Healing and I don't know if this topic has been covered before but I would like know to know does anyone know, think or believe in fasting?

I would like input from someone who has fasted and has a good or bad experience with their prayers being answered.

Thanks,
BLue M

Hey blue M,

I think we need to know what your purpose is? Is it to lose weight? Or cleanse your body? I think it is effective for cleansing your body, but I don't know how effective for losing weight. I think there are some other people here who can help you

Fajita3,

No, I don't really care about losing weight because I am already thin. I was told by one of my Chrisitan friends that fasting may answer my prayers sooner because I would be more in tune with myself spiritually.

She said God would know that I was serious about what ever I am praying for and she has seem miracles and break throughs after she fasted. My friend and her husband had horrible credit and were trying to purchase a house and she fasted and prayed and they were approved.

My friend is more religious and maybe closer to God than I am but I figured if it worked for her then maybe it could work for me.

And yes I definitely want to cleanse myself, my thoughts, my soul, my spirit and emotion. I want to cleanse and free myself from any thoughts or patterns that are not working or no longer useful for me.

Thanks for asking though.

Hi Blue M,

From what I know Vegetarians tend to be more spiritual, relaxed and happier people. I would say before you do fasting check the alignments of the planets. Also if you have access to the sauna or steam room is quite good. I have a friend who loves doing fasting and detoxification. The fasting she does consists on certain type of vegetable or fruit juice no sugar all organic all blended and she drinks lots and lots of water. Relax your aura should be different within days and you should feel good if you are prepared to do fasting.

Very true. There are two hormones released by the body that aid in the digestion of animal products; these homones create anger, rage, and aggressive behavior.

Thanks, Muse and Randall. That struck a chord within me somehow, like you two were re-minding me of something I'd known a long time ago.

Blue, fasting is really good for optimum health. As for answering your prayers, go with whatever feels right for you - whatever you have faith in, because that faith is what will manifest your answers.

I fasted for 24 hours once with a youth group, in the mountains near the sea. We called it a "solo", as we chose places away from each other, and drank only water.

I found my mind grew clearer, and although I didn't experience a vision, I was in tune with animals and I received some insight. The experience allowed me to focus on spiritual needs rather than corporeal needs.

But almost any healthy, well-planned detox experience will do. Later I found deep massage to help promote spiritual breakthroughs. I do recall going into certain massages having asked the Creator for help in making the massage a true healing, and that always comes true, for me anyway. If I have a big problem and need to make a decision I go for a massage first.

I don't believe fasting will "get" god to answer prayers "sooner"-- I believe that when a person focuses on cleansing and healing and spiritual goals, then it's easier for them to hear the word of the Divine, and see it operating in their own lives.

So cleansing/detox
but getting god to answer "faster"

Let us know what you choose.

Fasting is great, and I think everybody should do it regulary. What fasting is doing to you is that it reminds the body how it is to be clean. As an example,if a non smoker take a cigarette he will probably not like it because his lungs are clean and they like to stay that way but if he doesn t listen to that and continoues smoking the body will adapt to the new situation. After a while the cigarettes will probably taste great, the original memory of being clean is suddenly lost. It s the same with alcohol, coffee etc. It doesn t taste good in the beginning but after a while the body forgets how it is to bee without it. By fasting you go back to a clean state again and the body suddenly remembers. All the toxics go away from the body, all that s been stored in your fatcells. Also your mind is getting clean, it s working in the same way, as the body and the mind are conected. Beatifull, isn t it, fasting is beautifull and magical!

Welcome, Ioe!

Would you have any favourite fasting methods to share? Summer is coming, and I love the plentiful fruits and vegetables coming in, and I have been considering doing some fasting of my own, for detoxing.

Muse1, could you possibly ask your friend for specifics (amounts, etc.) of the fast she does?

Thanks!

Hello and thanks!
We are all humans but we re so different, our bodies are so different. One thing that will suit me may not suit you. When I m fasting I m doing it with only water, but if you never been been fasting before, it s nothing I recommend. Imagine cutting out your foodintake all of a sudden, if you ve been eating everyday for all of your life. That s not a good idea, and the possebility that you will fail is big. The best is as a beginner to try a juicefast. Some juices are more suitable than others. I m sure you can find good methods on the internet. But remember fasting can bee really hard and maybe you will feel ill because of the toxics that starts to go out of your body.
Take it slowly, fast only for one day. And use your willpower and you will succeed.

Kisses

I want to thank everyone for the information I was given regarding fasting. It was very helpful.

Well, I fasted last month for about 34 days. I drank only liquids during the week. I took plenty of minerals and multi-vitamins. After 9:00 I only drank water. I ate on the weekends. After 12:00 I could eat solid foods but 12:00am, Sunday morning my liquids fast resumed. I wrote out a list of everything or I wanted to accomplish by doing this fast. I also fasted from watching television during the week or listening to the radio. On the weekends I would watch television.

I have not been very religious in the past but I tried to read a passage or a chapter out of my bible everyday. I also prayed everyday.

I truly wanted a cleansing because things were just not working the way I wanted. It had been a long time I was going through personal trials and I truly felt hopeless. I became very clear and sensitive, almost psychic. I remember walking out of my place to go out late on one Saturday night and the moment I stepped outside, the first thought that hit my mind was I don't feel safe. I began praying and I immediately looked to my left and their were two guys standing on the side of my building with hoods on, just looking like they were up to no good.

It was weird, like I felt their energy the moment I stepped outside. I hurried to my car but my heart just kept beating so fast.

After fasting for a few days I began to have these dreams that had hidden meanings about why I was going through the things I was experiencing in my life during this time. My dreams were also really clear and I could remember most of them, without forgetting them later on.

Some of the things I had written down before I fasted has come into fruition. I have to thank God, Jesus for answering my prayers. My friend told me that through fasting God knows I am sincere and I am focused to get the spiritual lessons or meaning I may not have recieved because my mind or spirit was not clear enough to hear it.

I have gotten amazing insight and creativity after fasting. I am generally a creative person because I am a writer but lately I was blocked.

Before I began my fast I did not worry about breaking my fast. I have tremendous will power ( of course I do , I am a Taurus) but my only fear was not believing and then being let down because God did not answer my prayers. But God never lets us down, I believe sometimes we let ourselves down.

I just recommend anyone who is going to fast to consult your doctor and make sure it is the healthy thing to do for you. Even though I did not break my fast, (except one day when I was asked to dinner by my ex-boyfriend because a dear friend was in town from New York. But I added an extra day of my fast), it was very hard and if you don't have an extreme purpose it can be easy to break.

Fortunately I did have an extreme purpose....I truly wanted to get out of the pain I was in.
