Does anyone have any advice for someone who has a fear of driving? I've always depended on family for transportation and I wouldn't drive more than a couple of miles from home. Now, there's a wonderful job opportunity for me but it will require driving near a big city (which I'm terrified of). I don't really want to let this pass me by. Any tips?

Hi Brett welcome!!

The only recommendation I could make is to adress the fear on the soul Level. As a Bach Flower Practitioner, I would define the fear. Is it a known/unkown fear? Vague, unreasoning, of failure, loss of control ect..Once defined, I`d use the essences for the specific type of fear. Good luck Brett!

Thank you, juniperb. I think I must have been in a bad car crash in a past life. The fear has been there since I was a child. I had a friend who was killed in a car accident in 1997 and it really set me back even further. I became very spiritual after that but I can't seem to get over this fear of dying (esp. in a car crash). What kind of Bach Flower essence would you recommend and does anyone offer a print catalog where I can order?

Brett, it appears most of our fears are past life related. I feel your pain and loss of your friend as I lost two aunts in a single car crash, 23 and 27 years old. I still have trepidation driving or riding. Its because of the accident tho and not past life.

Heres two wonderful sources for the flower remedys.

http://www.internethealthlibrary.com/Therapies/BachFlowerRemedies.htm

www.fesflowers.com

The first is a good Q & A link and the second is a catalog source and info.

Browse around and see if you can find what you need. If you have any questions, I will try to answer them.

If your fear is a fear of dying then you need to tackle that one head on as well.

The most important thing to remeber with fears is that they do take time to get over. I don't really think there is an overnight cure.

I would make a list of the 'what ifs'. Firstly, think of taking the job and saying I will just do it. Then your mind will go 'but what if'... (insert fear here).

My list would go something like this:

What if I panic, crash, get stuck in traffic, get lost, have someone hit me, etc etc.

Once you have identified all of your what ifs, ask yourself what will happen if... I crash, die, beocme seriously injured...whatever the fear may be. Guess what?? No matter what happens, you CAN handle it! We have amazing inner strength us humans.

It's amazing how much we let an irrational fear rule our lives and stop us from moving forward.

I recomend reading the book, 'feel the fear and do it anyway' by Susan Jeffers.

Also, if you don't want to miss taking the job then take it. You are crossing bridges before you get to them, don't say 'I can't take this job because I won't be able to drive'. Say 'I will take the job and I will get there no matter what it takes.

Is there access to public transport?

One thing I would start doing straight away is determining a destination you feel comfortable driving to and then drive a further mile from that spot and then returning home. As you become more confident then make it one more mile further and further until you become more and more confident.

I have a really good hypnosis script for you to practice on a daily basis if you would like me to type it out for you. (pertaining to fear of driving.)

Let me know.....

If the fear is too bad I would suggest some professional help to get you back into the driving seat.

Just remember you CAN HANDLE IT

Anything that happens out there on the road..

and you CAN do it

Don't let your fears stop you from moving forward.
