Hey Guys! Please help! My dentist just told me that I need a root canal on my front tooth. I don't know – something about purposely killing off a tooth isn't sitting well with me. And I've read that root canals are connected to heart disease, arthritis etc. (Apparently the infection that necessitates the root canal never fully disappears with the procedure and the "poison" is distributed throughout the body - focal infection theory) Whoa! In typical Aquarian fashion I've probably provided too much of a preamble!!! So..is there any alternatives to root canal!?! Ha! If I don't figure out something quickly, my little smiley will have to sport a huge gap in his winsome little grin!!! Thanks! IP: Logged |

Sadly, this Aquarian has one front tooth and a second one root canaled. My circumstances were different and I am just lucky to have the teeth. My choice was limited to pull out or root canal. Hopefully, denistry has advanced since then and you will find your alternative as teeth are a good thing to have juniperb IP: Logged |

Hello Hutchie,I have had two root canals and really it was painless. It was actually a relief to have them removed considering the amount of pain I was in because of them. Heidi IP: Logged |

Ouch ouch ouch. I had a RC when I was 12. A filling had fallen off one of my molars when I was eating, and I was in excruciating pain for days. The procedure itself was painless except for the shots and later for a few seconds when they hit the nerve.IP: Logged |

Have you checked out acupuncture? It might be appropriate and effective for this kind of problem, or at least to help with part of it. Chinese medecine has some amazing approaches.Good luck! Lunargirl IP: Logged |
