All over the world kids eat their snot, today I even saw alittle girl wipe her baby brothers nose and eat it!!
OK gross topic, but WHY?, could it be an intuitive homeopathic thing, small amount of what ails, you cures you?

I think it's a convenient way to dispose of it (not that I do it), but where else could you put it?

I think kids don't understand the concept of tissue paper that young, as they'd be like, "why should I waste paper on this?", plus it's the whole experimentation thing - they don't just eat paper, or play with there noses, etc.

Juniiiihahahaha! Virgo's have them saved in order of colour stocked in the cupboard! Preferably alphabethized (??) and marked with a date on it. Well now, you wouldn't wanna waste a perfectly good piece of snot now would ya? I know I wouldn't (Virgo Asc. myself hehe).

Are you ready???? As a child I used to have a chronic cold and a chronic bubble hanging at the end of my nose. Sometimes invisible of colour but sometimes nice and soft yellowish! Well, I scared those neighbourhood kids away. I always wondered why I wasn't populair !!!! Yeah, I admit I have been it when it was dripping it's way down to me mouth!

I'm a mixture of grossed out and thoroughly entertained right now..
I think it could also be because when kids first get runny noses it has a tendancy to run all the way down into their mouth- unless their mother is of the hyper-attentive types that spends the whole day attending her kid's shnoz. Because of that perhaps they get accustomed to the taste and grow to like it and voila! you have a booger eatin habit.
I've wondered this myself lately with a little snot eatin two year old running around my house.

Oh I have a story to contribute, one summer when I was in camp there was this girl or boy (I can't remember)who used to get their jollies from wiping their boogers on unsuspecting campers' backs. They did it to me and I told on them and they got in trouble.
P.S. It wasn't at all funny at the time.

This is the weirdest thing I accidently ate one the other day I was so confused by it it just happened, I didn't mean to do it I just did! I always point to people in their cars and say nose picker! As far as I'm concerned it's just not on lol but it occured to me at the the time when I did it that I'm sick! I had a viral infection at the time.

As a child I never had the compulsion to do this but then again I was very healthy we never got junk food ever and it occured to me that people do it when they're sick. Maybe It helps ditect whats wrong with you or something. Your body knows what it wonts, like eating chalk if your'e calcium deficiant, you just do this weird thing all of a sudden. Anyway that's why I think kids do it.

Oddly enough, albescence makes an interesting observation, the body does have a wierd way of processing things, and the stomach is the most efficient way to break down substances into their component parts to be absorbed, so it could be a subconcious/instinctual thing to help the body break down the infectious substance that is causing the runny nose/sickness and allow the body to combat it. That does not make it less gross, but it could at least add a reason. That is kind of like the vomit reflex, it is a disgusting thing to vomit, but it is the bodies natural way to expell materials from the digestive tract that are causing problems. It may be gross, but it works.
