I hope maybe some folks could help me send some white light to my poor kittie. She is 15 years old, which is plenty long for a cat..but for whatever reason, she stopped eating and drinking. She was at the vets all this weekend, and he says her kidneys have shut down. He says its odd in a cat, even one of her age. She has about 3 days and she is at home with us. If she gets to be pain, we will have to take her in to end it humanely. I am trying to make her end as peaceful and love filled as I can. I have known her longer than any of my friends. Poor kittie. I am feeling guilt ridden too, because of it. One day before Halloween I was taking a walk and a truck pulled over to the wrong side of the road, and dumped something. It was a little kitten, about 6 weeks old. So I took him in and named him Goblin, in honor of Halloween. And now 3 weeks later, Patches is dying. I want to believe that the Universe gave me the kitten to make up for losing one cat, but I can't help wondering if somehow Patches is dying because I did. Maybe I need a little light too, to forgive myself of culpability. Thanks all....... IP: Logged |

Dear MotherKonfessor:I think that perhaps Patches is passing because she feels that you will be not devoid of feline love now that you have Goblin. Maybe she has been holding out for quite a while and the new kitten was what she needed to put her mind at ease. Best of love to you both. Motherkonfessor - I believe divinia is right on. Animals have there own sort of way of reincarnating, I think. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Goblin began exhibiting a few distinctly Patches-like tendencies. My feline friend Benjamin and I will send white light and happy thoughts to you and your kitties. tink IP: Logged |

Awwww -- I had a kitty for 18 years i had to have put down this past April. I had her since her birth. She was a Capricorn. I am so glad u have "new" kitty -- same thing happened to me sorta just before "Miss Kitty's" demise. Little dark gray stray came by with his lil turned up nose and i could not resist -- he has become the BEST kitty i EVER had -- anywayI did finally have to take Miss Kitty to the vet after a couple weeks of going downhill. She was in so much pain and crying so -- i spent the last nite with her brushing her and telling her everything would be ok tomorrow. Crying all the time. Tho, i do believe she understood. The thing that broke my heart was that when i was brushing her, she could not even stand up for it and fell with a cry. I broke down and cried like a big baby myself after the shot was administered and she had her last gasp-- i did know tho that she was out of her pain and did have a long spoiled life. Yes, it is a very difficult thing to "put down" a beloved pet. I do feel for u and wish healing for you -- tho "new" kitty will ease the pain for u. No need to be strong. Just love her and spoil her as much as u can for the last few days. And TINK -- I am glad to see u posting --I know u have pain in your heart from your recent loss. Please know that i do understand and wish the best for u. IP: Logged |

Oh Love and Light to you and to Patches and the new Goblin. You know, I do think that divinia is right about your Patches because I do not believe that such an illness could come on so immediately. Here is even more . IP: Logged |

MotherKon, you are blessed to have shared the love of Patches May the God/dess watch over her and sooth your pain. Goblin is another blessing gifted to you; just love him and find the joy and peace our four leggeds bring. juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

Thanks, everyone, for helping me out here... it gives me warm fuzzies to read these words. funny thing...its been 3 days, and Patches is still alert, even playful.....as much as a 15 yr old kittie can be. She has started drinking water again, even eats a little bit if I tempt her with soft food. Its odd.....I can't let myself hold out for the idea she'll will "get over this" but she seems ok. I just wanted to make her comfortable and spoil her a bit. Just gotta wait and see...dont want to send bad energy. I would be giving all of you smiles and angels and flowers of thank yous, but I am just not that cyber talented!! MK IP: Logged |

Wonderful to hear that MK. Smiles and Angels and Flowers right back at you! and Patches! and Goblin too!No matter what Patches decides to do she is a lucky kitty to have you. Thank you NikiSpeedy. Some days I'm angry, somedays sad, somedays just numb. Strange but sometimes I am so filled with JOY. As though I can feel just a little bit of what she feels. We talked about what was on the other side so often... IP: Logged |

Thanks for asking Tink......funny funny thing. Apparently, either the first vet was a complete quack.....or All the love worked!!! Thanks everyone!!! A week after the 3 day prediction we received, Patches started eating..and drinking. So we decided to get a second opinion. Yes, she has chronic kidney disease, but she ISNT dying and we can take care of her. We spoil her shamelessly with special foods, and this new vet is incredible. Just wonderful. As long as we do the things the vet told us to do (like giving her IV fluids and such) she could live as long as another 4 years!!! So, everything is good now.. great even for Patches, since we coddle her totally!! Thanks to all of you.....a happy ending... MK IP: Logged |
