Anyone here know tai chi? I've just started taking the Yang style 24 form. I have learned holding the ball, pulling the silk, and a few other moves I can't remember the name to. Another cool thing I learned is correct breathing. I know this exists across many philosophies, but it was cool to learn it from a tai chi master. Anyway, I'm hoping to stick with it. It's very interesting.IP: Logged |

I've always wanted to try tai chi and yoga! Tell me what it's like and what you think of it, please. IP: Logged |

I practice other martial arts from China, and I know there are many aspects in common about correct breathing. Tai Chi is not a frecuent practice for me, but martial arts in general have interesting details for breathing: union of fire and water; the Great Circle; Blower breathing; purification breathing; Dance of Meridians... etc. An important detail is the position of the hands when inhaling and when exhaling: palms up for inhaling and down for exhaling. The retention of the air inside for a short time is recommended in some exercises. In martial arts (including Tai Chi) it is good in some movements to follow the hand with the vision. Our breathing can be used for healing other people too, and it is necessary to control the rythm of breathing when we are doing that, because a wrong way to breathe could cause we receive the disease and get sick too.
