Has anyone ever had negetive effects after using Hemi Sync CDs?
I can feel they really do stimulate the whole brain, that's cool! But it seems like every time I use them, I get a headache and become irritable.
I would also welcome positive comments as well.
Thanks!

Hi Philbird,

I did warn you about headaches to begin with. I've used them for years now and love them. It's like doing anything for the first time. You are stimulating yourself in a way that's different. A way you are really not used to. Tell me which ones you have and I may be able to advise you further. I only use the Monroe ones.

Hi Gia,
I thought you were out of commission for a while, to travel??
The ones I bought were from the Monroe Inst. They are;
Transcendance and Mystic Realms.
Why the irritabilty? Is that an indication that there may be something negative I haven't dealt with?
I must admit, the same day I got the CDs, a very upsetting event took place, for the first time in 13 years I am truely sad.
Maybe it wasn't a good time to listen to the CDs. Talk to you later.

Yes, I'll be off in a couple of weeks. I probably won't be able to spend as much time as I'd like to on LL either. Seems once I log on I manage to do little else and get so behind with everything. It is addictive!

I'm no expert on brain patterns. I can tell you that when I first started my Monroe course I got really bad headaches too. I was not able to use the earphones straight away. I used small portable speakers either side of my bed. My hubby was abroad thank goodness, otherwise he would have gone nuts with the sound of those playing on "repeat" all night long. I got so used them at night that I hated to be without them. Took them everywhere.

I started with the relaxation tapes. Super Sleep and Sleeping Through The Rain. I think I must have listened to them a million times Philbird, before moving on to the Wave Tapes. I purchased the "GATEWAY WAVES" and I still use them. I have a few others that I just purchased. I'll let you know more about those later.

Since they alter brain wave activity they do take getting used to. However on reflection, I think knowing the tapes you have, it might be the upsetting event you mentioned. I really hope things are better and send you lots of love and hugs.

Hi Gia,
When you listen to the tapes, is it only during that time the entire brain is activated? Does it eventually improve your way of thinking overall, or just when meditating?
What if you fall asleep? Does it still have an effect?
The co. really didn't provide that kind of info...

Yes, it is accumulative. The more you listen the more you will improve overall. Fall asleep if you like. Actually in many instances, you are more receptive in your sleep state. I played mine for months all night long on repeat. I did not use headphones though, only speakers on either side of the bed. Do not expect anything overnight. It takes time like anything else
worth learning. If you play the relaxation and sleep state ones first, I think you'll be surprised how much better you sleep.

Hi again,
What did you hope to accomplish when you first bought your tapes?
I bought mine for two reasons:

1. to hopefully tap into unconscious knowledge so that I may use it. Maybe if I was lucky, I'd tap into the collective unconscious.
2. to tap into my sixth sense and be more in tune with it.

Is that the premise of the tapes? Or am I expecting too much.

No Philbird, you are certainly not expecting too much. Those reasons are very valid indeed.

When I was about 17 I met a very unusual lady. I called her Betty. Now Betty for some reason adopted me. Not in the traditional sense of course. I didn't live with her, nor did I assume her name. She used to bring me food, share her huge collection of metaphysical books with me, introduce me to weird people and impress me with her ability to move energy around the room. I asked her once why she adopted me? Did she perhaps feel sorry for me? Her response, was one of incredulous laughter. She accused me of feeling sorry for myself which I must admit, I did!

She used to go into fits of hysterical laughter every single time I got upset or cried. It didn't seem to matter to Betty what the reason was? You can't cry very hard if someone starts laughing. Somehow you just can't sustain it. Try it with a child and you'll see. I thought she was mean at the time. Now I see she was doing me a great service. I was always one to get the violins out at a moments notice. She cured me of that habit.

Betty was my very first teacher. I give Betty full credit for who I am today. Without Betty, I really don't think I would have achieved nearly half as much in my life to date. She took me to the Spiritualist Headquarters in Hyde Park and let me loose in their library. She paid for my courses. I had no money to pay for them myself.

Hence, I learned from a very early age, that the possibilities of the human mind have no limitations. Betty taught me way back then that everything was energy. That my whole life would be a play between my inner energy and my outer. I have been on a journey to increase my potentialty ever since. It never ends.

That is why I purchased the tapes. My next step is a three or four day stay at Dr. Monroe's institute, for a residential course.

Betty could do amazing things. She was a exceptional medium. She taught me how to move my energy across the room, but I still can't move objects. She could. I may never achieve her level in this lifetime, though I'll do the best I can. She opened a door and I entered. I'm still walking....

I'm in awl (sp) over how young you were presented with such a gift. A guide!
Stuart Wilde mentiones "spreading yourself out" I believe he means etherically. Gia, you certianly have a giving presence projecting in my direction and everyone in L.L. I'm sure. I'm in sync with Betty's laughing at everything but I haven't always been like that. I came to a point in my life where someone told me I was afraid to laugh!
Someone actually had to tell me that! I was shocked at the idea that I was given permission to laugh. I had to think about that for a year or two before I started trusting that no one was going to hit me for laughing. Now I laugh all the time at humanity of all things, and also at the people who hurt me. Well enough me, me, me....could you say something stupid so I have as little outside of myself humor.
Induldge me!

Everyone is welcomed to be silly, as a matter of fact I think Randall should add a new topic to the list: "My baby book, The stupid things I did today" That could be really funny especially since everyone likes to dabble in the world of metaphysics. Linda liked to laugh.

I love Stuie. I knew him yonks ago well before he became famous. He was an amazing medium, used to hang around the Spiritualist HQ in London giving readings. He's funny, entertaining and often shocking too. He likes to shock people out of their stupor now and again does Stuie. Thinks a good shock wakes you up. I was so sad that he no longer lives in Taos. I think he visits now and again though. I'll have to find out when he's next there. Last time I was there he was travelling. I still had a good time though.
