Can anyone suggest a good website or book for beginners in Reiki?

Hmm... I have a ton of books about reiki at home, but unfortunately I can't think of one off the top of my head. The best way, in my opinion, to learn more about reiki is to talk to people who have been attuned to it. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. Perhaps some of the other wonderful people here have some good reading suggestions for you.

Alchemiest,
I live out in the desert, we don't even have a book store! The closest thing that comes to reiki here is what you do to your yard, if you have grass! When I asked for any info., it's because I have to drive a long way to a bookstore, and I'd like to be prepared when I get there!
Thanks

Philbird, I 'think' I got this link from SunShyne, the moderator of this forum. She is our resident Reiki Knowflake. And one of the most wonderful souls in the Uni-verse!
http://reiki.7gen.com/

If the link isn`t from SunShyne, It may be of some help anyhow, enjoy! I`ve learned a great deal from it.

Remembered one...

The tao of Reiki (I can't remember who the author is)

Also, you could read Kathleen Milner's books about Tera Mai Reiki and Seichem, and William Lee Rand's books on Reiki.

Good luck

I found what is supposed to be a contaversial book by Diane Stein. It was supposed to be out of print... But I found a brand new one a the bookstore. I'll read this for now and then go on to William Rand.
Thank you!!

Cool! I really like that book by Diane Stein. It even includes the Master Symbols and step-by-step instructions on how to draw them. Good luck to you in your studies!

Thankyou Divina!
I mostly wanted the hand positions, I don't plan on attuning anyone in the near future.

What exactly is reiki? I always thought it was like a massage...I'm sure I am wrong, lol.

It's pretty specific, learning to be a practioner...
But basically, It is a healing technique using energy from yourself and directing it with your hands to heal another. Either by touch or near touching. It's much more complicated as it can also be done from a distance.
SunShyne could probably be more specific...

Actually, it is a healing technique through which you are attuned to the universal life energy and channel that through yourself, to another person. Since you're not using your own 'prana' to heal, you don't get depleted or tired out, but rather, get energized, because the energy heals you as you use it to heal others.
Philbird, what is the title of the book by Diane Stein that you have? I would be interested in looking for a copy as well.
Thanks.
