a very good friend of mine is a commercial fisherman, he had been out in the boat on the ocean for months. Upon his return I noticed he had psoriasis. Which I had never seen on his body before. I know that his father has a very bad case of it and has tried anything and everything offered to him and nothing seems to help. His father is in his 60's and feels he hadnt much longer of life, therefor refuses to seek anymore medical treatment for this case. But, my friend is in his mid 20's and feels very embarrassed about the changes to his skin. Now I dont know much about psoriasis but I dont think it is hereditary or genetic is it? Could it be that his clothes being wet (working on a boat) are causing his skin to chaff and opportunity for infection comes along? And is there anyhting anyone knows of that may help, I thought of giving him one of my purple plates to carry, but has anyone used them for skin problems? If so, I would love to hear from anyone with advice or even experience.

Hey angela,

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I'm not clued up on psoriasis, although I'm sure some of the Knowflakes will be able to give insight.

I'm here to send healing and strength his way - it must be difficult for him to cope with these changes

Why you are welcome! I had psoriasis when I was 18ish??? 100% due to stress, I'll never forget the Dr. referring to it as the "Healthy Mans Disease????" go figure....anyways....I did alot of nude sunbathing in the back yard, haha and also I know at that time (late 70's) my mom was really into reading Edgar Cayce and he had some remedy...you may want to check into that later as an alternative, if nothing else works. I was told it would never go away, but it did!!!!! This is when I learned what "stress" can actually do to ones body. Good Luck!

Hi, Angela. You say heīs a fisherman. The salt is a strong toxic for psoriasis. He should eat with low levels of salt, and avoid eating meat and fish, since they produce toxic substances after the digestion.

Fruits and any raw vegetable are good, as well as foods with Zn, Ca, S, Si, Se, but never from beans, broad beans, lentil, fungus, caviar, pea, chikpea, walnut, peanut, coconut.

Raw carrot is special, and lemon or orange juices (without sugar) are good to keep the blood very clean. Baths with sage are recomended for the skin.

Avoid alcohol, drugs, medicaments, mineral water, smoking.

Anyway, ask him about 1993, because his psoriasis seems to be due to an emotional situation then.

Thanks allot for ur info. When I see him again, which will be around the 7th or August I will let him know all this info people have givin me. He gone back over to Kodiak to get the boat ready for the next run, but is not going on the trip. Decided to stay home and tend to his psoriasis for a few months. He usually fishes at least 8 months outta the year. So he also deserves this break. I will also mention the 1993 and see what comes. I have know him forever (it seems) since 1986. We were the best of friends growing up. And at many times he was my man. I do know that in 1993 we were dating at that time. And sometime very close to there, he dropped outta school and joined the Youth Corp on our local base. But I am unsure whether that was 93 or 94 or even 95. And when he joined that School he split up with me, said he didnt want to keep me tied down while he was gone for almost a year. Which was very hard on both he and I. But we are still the best of friends even though I am currently with someone else. His mother (who he was not very close with - parents are divorced) also died sometime with in the years I just listed. But I will sit down with him and see what we can come up with.
He is a drinker, and tends to go overboard when he does. But since he has found out about the psoriasis, he has slowed way down if not quit drinking as of this time. His dermatologist told his that drinking was a big no-no with psoriasis.
Also, I did give him the a small purple plate, dont know if its had any effects on him of not. So I will have to question him about that as well. I will keep you informed and thanks again for your help!

I went digging thru all my old high school, jr high boxes of junk (why I keep most of what I do I have no clue - but it did come in handy) I found an old journal of mine from the yrs 1992 and 1993. Now I mentioned him in the Youth Corp ... after talking with is father it was in 1996 (we're does the time go) his mother died shortly after he got out or Youth Corp, around 1997. So noe of that would be it since the yr is latter. When I looked thru my journals I found a reference to the first guy I had ever slept with the summer of 1993. As I said before Jamie and I dated on and off and still remained xlent friends. About 2 weeks ago or so, we had gone out to the bar to have a few drinks (which I know know are not good for him in this case) anyways, we talked allot about our past together and things we had been thru together. The subject came up about me sleeping w/this other guy who I lost my viginity too, and how he always thought he would have been my first and I would have been his. I agreed. And why I did what I did, I have no clue, cause I had no feelings for this other guy. Besides that he pulled a wam-bam-ty-ma'am on me and took my virginity. He talked about how much it hurt him to know I was in the other room w/this other guy. So me finding this journal brought back that whole convo. thinking this may be what you were referring to in 1993 as emotional trama???? I havent had a chance to sit down and talk to him about this one-on-one. He just got back into town. Although I have to say that his psoriasis had dies down tremendously. He is on some new medication prescribed my his dermatologist. I guess its pretty risky though 0 as fars as damage to the liver and kidneys. So hes got to be monitored thru-out his progress. The other thing I think may have helped speed this up is the fact that I did give him one of my purple discs to wear around his neck while he was gone. (he said he hadnt any problems sleeping with it at all and everyone kept asking him if it was his dog tag or what) He said he didn't explain it to anyone. But held my words in his heart that I had told him regarding this plate. I odnt know if hes still wearing it or not since hes been back, I'm sure he has. He did ttell me that he felt as if he had allot more energy than usuall and thinks its because of the plate .... :-) He did mention an idea to me ... first I would have to know if Salt Water would have any reaction to the purple plates. Every year when he goes out fishing, he gets a bouy (that ties to the crab pot) and labels them for each and every person that mean something to him. So one crab pot bouy would have my name on it, another for his father and so on. And let me tell u that my pot is on of the top producers (sry had to throw that in) His idea was for me to get another purple disc for him and tie it on the pot or bouy with my name and see what happens thru out the season. But I told him I was unsure of how it would work out and didnt know if it could be used in such ways.... what do u think...or anyone else reading this. I am going to do some searching for him today regarding the salt water and the purple plate. Does anyone think it may do harm to the water or creatures with in it? Would the salt water corrode the plate? .....
When I sit down and havve this talk with him regarding 1993 I'll keep u posted, just thought I would let u know what I had come across regarding 1993 ... think I'm close or can u not tell....

A little more on psoriosis.

One of your questions was could it be hereditary? Yes, it can be. My mother has and her father had psoriosis. It is closely linked to rheumitoid arthritis. My grandfather's mother had rheumitoid arthritis, instead of psoriosis.

And, yes, stress can bring on an attack. I have watched my mother over the last 25 years develop more and more psoriosis and she does not deal with stress well!

The tragedy in this dis-ease is that so many people don't understand it. There's nothing "wrong" with her. Her skin cells just multiply at an alarmingly faster rate than those of us with "normal" skin.

For my mom, nothing has worked. Even now, she's in a psoriosis study, taking an experimental drug, and it's not working.

Any other ideas out there?

bases,
The only thing he can think of that would have really bothered him was the facts that I mentioned in the above post. I didnt even say anything about what I had thought of, he kinda went back thru the years (after me saying 1993) and asked when it was that I lost my viginity.... 1993... And hes already told me, after the psorisis came on (when we out at a bar one night - before he knoew not to drink with it) how much it hurt him to see that happen and how he always figured he would have been my first. We actually began to cry together about it. Honestly I thought he would have been to. But being the horney 13 yr old I was...I jumped on the first one that offered. Which I regret now. But thats the conclusion we both came to about the yr 1993. oh yeah ... and his psorisis is clearing up with major inprovements ... a little scaring has taken place, but I've told him to make sure he rubs vita E on those to help clear it up. Hes also tanning (fake-n-bake) a little which seems to reduce the appearance as well.

Hello, Angela. I see you are quite interested in finding the emotional cause of a disease. Thatīs very important to get a complete healing, because if we attack the symptoms, the healing is partial, but the root of the problem remains and the disease will appear later.
I posted a simple exercise of meditation a few weeks ago, very useful to uproot the emotional causes of the diseases. Scroll down here:

http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000532-2.html

Itīs easy to do and 1 or 2 times are usually enough to uproot the problem.
