I've been using : Ion Repair Solutions Effective Care Intensive Therapy Treatment I've been bleaching my hair for a while now... and this stuff really helps to cut down the dryness. I buy it at Sally's Beauty. I know it's a national chain... but here's the link to the product at the Sally's site: http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/product.asp?dept%5Fid=1215&pf%5Fid=302206 IP: Logged |

Yeah... my Sally's card prolly gets used as much as my debit card I love that place! The staff is usually pretty nice, at least I've found that to be true here. Usually you can just tell them what it is you want to do, and they'll tell you what you need to do it. I do all my own coloring and bleaching. Learned through trial and error and with the guidance of those wise Sally's employees. I also do my own acrylic overlay. No tips or anything fake. Just a thin coat of acrylic over the top of my nail. Helps to keep them from breaking... but they still can because I do them very thin. I can have a total beauty day with products from Sally's (doing it myself) for less than $30... where it would costs $200+ at the salon. Tee hee... I also figured out how to layer my own hair. So, I can get just about anyone to cut it straight across for me, and I add the flair. Did I mention that I love Sally's? IP: Logged |

I've never heard of Sally's stores before. I wonder if we have them where I live? I think I'll look them up. Noreen? I use the local health store or wholefoods normally.Protein masks made with one cup of protein powder, two egg yolks and 6 tablespoons of honey is a fantastic conditioner. I do it about once a month. You have to mix it up really well. I use an electric wisk to mix mine. If it's too thick add a wee bit of olive oil or another egg yolk. I leave it on for about two hours. I use plastic shower cap, do all my housework, then wash it off in the shower. I make sure I'm not expecting any visitors. Though my elderly neighbour caught me with a face mask on the other day. A collagen one that looks all white. He said I didn't look well, not quite my normal self, so I just peeled it off in front of him. Poor chap, he's an old guy not used to stuff like that. You should have seen the look on his face. It looks a wee bit like skin when you peel it off. Gia

Yes, my son too behaves like that don't serve any food, or do kitchen work if you have mask on face and stay in your room. Now he is not at home, I am not just putting face pack, I got pack all over my body and can move anywhere in house.I have stopped buying eggs so what else I can put instead of eggs, just honey would work, protein powder(can it be any protein powder like Whey's protein powder or is it different) IP: Logged |

Hi! I don't do it very often, but I use oils. My mom taught me to leave olive oil out in the sun until it warms up and then massage it into hair and scalp. It's called a hot oil treatment. If you do it when you don't have anything important the next day, it's probably best. It looks better after your second day's shampoo. Another oil is coconut oil. They carry it here at the food co-op and at the vitamin store. It's right next to the kind you use in cooking in the food co-op, except that it is marked for skin and hair. I forget what I paid, but a 15 oz. plastic tub of it was under $5. For me, it's wonderful to mix some lavender essential oil in with it. Once again...it leaves a kind of a greasy feel...the day after...but they have certain properties as a bonus. (I forget what merciful1 eace:IP: Logged |

Hi,I don’t have anything against Sally products but I do tend to like a little more natural base product.( it might have to do with my Virgo moon). Well in any case my case I use a shampoo and conditioner from www.lush.com. I love it!!! I also use a henna w/ coconut oil once every two months. When my hair was in bad shape I put in my blender avocado, egg, honey, a spoon of olive or coconut oil, a nice cream comes out and I leave it in my hair for about 20 mins to 1 hr. ( I usually do it around new moon and full moon) Muse IP: Logged |

Ugh, I have hair that is extremely sensitive to humidity, and I live in Florida. So I know bad hair, heh. But just recently I bought Pantene Pro V's Light Spray Detangle Conditioner, and it's been working wonders, I've actually had people complimenting me. Still get frizzies, but not as bad anymore.------------------ "Reality leaves a lot to the imagination." - John Lennon IP: Logged |

I also have been using Pantene and its the best I have ever used. I have extremily long and thick hair...however the individual hairs are baby fine but I have more of them on my head. This makes my hair tangle extremily easily. Since Ive been using Pantene Ive been able to brush through my hair a lot easier, with out making my hair so oily. IP: Logged |

How cool this thread's been opened - didn't notice it before. You see I have a question about my hair. It's fine (as in texture) and always had lots of it. It's naturally curly and when I was little it used to fall into ringlets at the bottom. Now as I got older, it became more suseptable to frizzies in humidity when before it would just curl. I added to this, I guess, by highlighting. I prefer the colours of honey, caramel added to base dark brown. Everytime I wash my hair (with smoothing shampoo and conditioner) I go through the lenghty ritual of serum & spray conditioner, before blowdrying and straightening irons! Thank fully I don't wash my hair everyday or it'll be frazzled!! I don't mind it being wavy - just if I don't dry it properly, it goes frizzy What I need advice on are related to hair strengthening products - or even supplements that do work that I can ingest. This is because I notice, everytime I wash my hair, small handfuls come out, particularly when I'm stressed and my hair has thinned out on top at the grand age of 26 There's already a bit where the hair seperates where I can see skin but that's from hair not growing on a scar I had since I was little. However the lack of coverage is getting worse and afraid if I don't do something now I'll be sparse in no time! It's not all down to colour since I don't always colour my hair, but any recommended products or supplements suggested, I'd be grateful for! By the way - the advice up top ('scuse the pun) is noted too Many thanks, Sheaa - now if my hair did that, it'd be too cool! ------------------ "We see everything through a glass, darkly. I find henna wax brilliant and if the hair is really dry try hot olive oil - wrap hair in towel and leave on all night. Also henna powder gives a shine. I read asian women use hot oil (virgin) on their hair and I have seen a lot of them and they have beautiful shiny hair - I condiiton mine every couple of days and it has gone from being dry and broken to sleek and shiny - good luck xIP: Logged |

Sheaa~ I don't know about the availability of products through out the world, but lemme tell you about this stuff... It is called Ecrinal. The parent company is Asepta. They have patented and ingredient called "ANP" which is a tricholipid protein. It basicaly strengthens and normalizes hair. It has a gentle washing base, pH neutral, without much sudsing.. it won't strip hair/oils, just gently cleanses and strengthens. If you have any follicles which are in the catagen stage, it will 'wake them up'. It is great for people concerned with thinning hair, or even with putting harsh ingredients on the hair and scalp. The Tricholipid is derived from horses hair... no they don't hurt the horses, just extract the oil from the clippings of groomers. They have a complete line of hair/nail products ( The nail restructuring cream is F*'n awesome!!!) Hair and nails are made from the same stuff... just a different format. K.... I hope this helped. I recomended them to arieschick, who used to post herer alot.. she went on their web-site, ordered them and said she LOVED them. I must admit, it is my job and passion to try and reccomend products, so I don't use it regularily, but when I do use their products, I am always very impressed. They have a line of shampoos ( use the original {with ANP} for growth results) and conditioner, lotions, cream and even shock treatments.... just an FYI. You're gorgeous....even if your hair fals out, nothing would affect your beauty. *inside and out*IP: Logged |

Nexus Therappe shampoo w/conditioners works for me...it's expensive...but it really keeps my hair healthy....I use it when I can...and just use cheap stuff when funds run lowa good thing to use for a deep conditioning once in awhile...is coconut oil...they sell tubs of it in health food stores and vitamin stores...you have to have an extra day...cause your hair will look greasy the next day...if you can add lavender essential oil to it...it's heavenly IP: Logged |

I would not use any so-called "hair conditioner".If I had problems with my hair, I'd be looking at my nutrient intake, stress level, any general medical or mental conditions, other environmental factors, such as pollution; and what I've been washing my hair with, of course. But I would definitely not turn to "hair conditioner"- that's not going to solve my problems, it's only for suppressing and creating more problems. Natural resources are the best. IP: Logged |

I agree Pantene is the best I ever used. However, what leaves my hair shimmering like silk, moving like silk, and feeling like silk, is a treatment of olive oil and egg! Mix about 3/4 cup of olive oil with one raw egg. Beat them together. I put the mix in a big bowl in the sink the bend over the sink until the top of my head is in the bowl. Then just keep massaging the mix into your hair- squeeze it in, rub into your scalp, and pile your hair on top of your head. Put on a swower cap or wrap your head in saran wrap or just a towel. Leave on over night or for at least four hours. Letting the sun heat your head while the mix is in is good but it will work without this. Baby oil works. My friend once gave herself a home perm that fried her head! WE poured a whole bottle of baby oil into her hair and it was still dry!! So good luck! Tuxedo MeowIP: Logged |
