Has anyone ever fasted before? I fasted but didn't really understad why. I thought I just stopped eating cuz I might be depressed or something due to some incident that happened. But I'm perfectly fine. I went for I think 3-4 days w/o food and just a sip of something to drink every now and then. THen I worried about myself and wondered why I was unconsciously fasting. When I began eating again, I couldn't belive it. Eating felt foreign and new. I felt like I was a child again experiencing for the first times, what taste is like. My taste buds were very acute. Still I couldn't eat much. I'd make myself eat at least a little something throughout the day. However, the weird thing is, is that was about 2 weeks ago. I'm still "fasting" (but not really cuz i'll try to eat, but can't eat a whole meal yet) When I do eat somthing, my body automatically feels awful if it was bad food for you (like when I ate rice pilaf made with butter) I feel like my body has sort of cleansed itself. If you've fasted, did you have that "cleansing feeling" too?

Hi yes, you are right. Fasting is good once a while. Did you used to eat non veg before?
When i stopped it for six months and went on vegetarian diet. I felt inner purification. I felt more healthy and energetic.

If you were a vegetarian before then I cannot understand your experience.

I think fasting once a week should be fine.

When you are dehydrated, you stop feel thirsty. When you are really hungry, you stop feeling like you want to eat. People with eating orders have these symptoms. I do not fasr myself. I believe it's unhealthy to fast unless you eat badly, or eat lots of refined products. I think to fast longer than a few days is putting your system at risk. One girl I know did it for a month and then had to go into hospital because she developed reflux difficulties. The body when hungry just cannibalizes on it's own muscles for energy. It's like trying to run your car on empty.

the first time i fasted (about 11 years ago) my aim was to do it for three days (i think it ended up being only two). it literally was THE first time i'd been without food for that long--i dont remember why i did, except that i was probably inspired by something i read. i had this exact same experience of experiencing food more fully afterward and being highly aware of whether the food was good for me or not. also during the fast i had it 'come' to me to try being vegetarian as an experiment. i fasted a couple more times, fairly far apart in time, and one of the times experienced a wonderful energy 'rush'--i've never felt so good in my life before or since. but lately i just dont eat enough in general to have the stamina for a fast--i went a few times trying to be vegan and just wouldnt eat if there wasnt anything vegan available, and now i'm having to eat fish b/c i got so deficient--i'm hoping sometime soon i can stop b'c i dont want to eat fish! but if i dont eat it i feel terrible
