This post explains the wonderful nature of water, that of retaining the surrounding essence. http://www.spiritofmaat.com/archive/aug1/prns/consciouswater.htm Hmm, I should pay for the water as well as food before I eat. I know an Orthodox Jew, he was reciting prayers for few seconds before every type of fruit(food) he ate.

My sister is an Orthodox Jew and prayers are recited for almost anything and everything... before eating (different prayers for different types of foods, i.e. bread, fruit from trees, vegetables/tubers from the ground, wine, other beverages besides wine, snacks), after eating (quite long prayers as compared to before eating), before going to sleep, upon arising, over a new moon, during a sunset, for a full moon, when it rains, when putting a mezuzah on a doorpost, a minimum of three separate times on the Sabbath, during weekdays at very specific times, before washing, before going in the mikvah (ritual bath), upon seeing a rainbow, while in a Sukkah during the holiday of Sukkot, before lighting candles (for the Sabbath, after the Sabbath is over, at Hanukkah) etc. I could go on and on... G-d is thanked for everything whenever possible. I rather like that. I do it infrequently myself; wish I did it more often. A good friend of mine is a devout Christian and prays quietly and unassumingly before we eat, then he makes the sign of the cross on his body and enjoys the food... it moves me. Karen SD IP: Logged |

Hi Karen, You mentioned "mikvah". Does she have a flowing source of water ? Or has she created one for herself? Hello Saffron, Do you happen to have a URL for that? IP: Logged |
