Hi as I live in New Zealand and am not able to buy 100 watt red light bulbs here I brought a regular 100 watt light bulb and used VHT (Very High Temperature) paint to colour red. I also thought about covering the opening of the lamp with a few layers of red cellophane. So if anyone has any comments as to wether this will suffice it would be greatly appreciated.IP: Logged |

That's a good question. I've wondered it myself. I would think that yes it would work since the bulbs would be colored anyway ... that is, the light in any bulb is the same light but the color is there because of the glass, you know? It's like with the glasses of water ... it's the same light coming from the sun, it's effects are different based on the color of the glass. As long as the wattage is 100 I think you should be okay. I know I tried a 75 watt once because I couldn't find the 100 watt one and it didn't work. I tried it again with the 100 watt bulb when I finally found one and that worked well, even if I didn't follow all the rules precisely. Good luck on the color diet! OH, yeah, check out www.star-notes.com if you haven't already for more information on the color diet that wasn't in Star Signs. The color diet stuff starts in the March note on page 6, though all the notes are wonderful and full of great information. ------------------ "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Ghandi IP: Logged |

Red cellophane? Just don't put it on the bulb, or you'll have a fire or a mess. I wouldn't put it on the lamp either...that sounds dangerous. The safe paint idea sounds better, but I'd consult with a hardware store first, for safety issues. IP: Logged |

Oh, yeah, trillian's light about the fire stuff. I don't know why but you mentioned cellophane and I immediately pictured the kinds of lights they use in the theater, you know, with the little sheets of cellophane (or whatever clear plasticy paper it really is) of all different colors changing the light. All the bulbs are usually white. But yeah, unless you have one of those kinds of lights, then the safe paint would probably be ... safer. ------------------ "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Ghandi IP: Logged |
