Is there anyone out there who seems to be overly sensitive to certain types of movies or news stories?I have never been so sensitive to this until a few years ago when I was living with my mom and saw the movie "Boys Dont Cry" The scene at the end where the 2 girls get murdered made me not be able to sleep for weeks. It wasnt the actual murder that bothered me it was how they showed the one girl getting shot while her little baby son watched. Ever since then I have this horrible fear of dying in front of my children. Ever since then I have become sensitive to other movies that include violence and children and also negative news stories regarding children. I dont even watch the news anymore because of this so never expect me to have correct info about a news story...lol Anyways, I've been working with my fear and Ive gotten a little better. It had gotten to the point where I was extremily afraid to be at home alone and couldnt sleep. Im past that now, but I still get the heebie jeebies when I see violent movies, especially if they have children in them. I just wanted to see if any others here were sensitive like this to any kind of media and thought it would be nice for us to talk about it. IP: Logged |

Hey Miss Apples Yes I totally have that problem!! I can't watch scary movies because then I can't stay home alone and every little noise frightens me out of my wits. I don't like to watch gory action movies or tramatic news stories either because I am sensitve too..like I know those things happen but I don't like to see it all the time, its too depressing. I think your probably becoming empathic like me where your extra sensitive and can feel others pain. Its sometimes hard to be this way, but I think I'd rather that than be numb to violence and disturbing things. But I know what you mean it can definitely be hard feeling this way.IP: Logged |

I have a little boy and have another child on the way. I remember my husband renting out "Trainspotting" for us to watch. The scene where they find the baby dead due to the parents drug addiction really ripped my heart out and messed with my head for a while. Our son was only a few weeks old then. I know that these kinds of things unfortunately occur within our society but I don't want to watch it. Otherwise I end up spending my time obsessing about it and getting angry about it. I don't know - maybe that is putting my head in the sand but I have chosen to focus on my little family and work on always being a good Mum and wife rather than being overly concerned with that part of society.IP: Logged |

When I was younger I was deeply affected by slasher flicks (ie Friday the 13th) and often had trouble sleeping. More recently I was disturbed by the rape scene in Monster. It is very graphic.IP: Logged |
