So I had to go see the dentist today. One idiot dentist a year and a half ago did something weird to two of my teeth... said there were 'stains' on there, and put sealant on then... except he drilled my teeth a little before he did that because apparently there weren't enopugh grooves for the sealant to stick. Foolish me said ok, you're the dentist, you know what you're doing.
Present day- the sealants are chipping, exposing the grooves the dentist made. This is not conducive to healthy teeth, I figure.
When I went to the dentist today, their behavior was highly unprofessional. They kept chatting to each other (there was a dentist and a technician) rather than focusing on my teeth. When I tried to tell them where the chip/grooves were that needed sealant, the technician laughed and said, "let the dentist be the dentist here, ok?"
So I shut up.
They put sealant on the wrong tooth.

I only realized this when I got home and tried to brush my teeth after lunch.

So, I called them and left a message telling them to call me back since the tooth I had requested sealant be put on did not appear to have received any sealant.

I am a little upset and now I utterly hate dentists! Grrrr!!!

I just needed to vent.

Eeeew, I can't believe they made that nasty comment then MADE A MISTAKE!
You need to really b*tch at them and seem very upset, and they had better find a way to make it up to you (maybe cover the bill).

OMG!! understandable (the venting) I woulda freaked on em .... I cant stand dentists! let alone the sound of them working on my teeth .... Eeeeewwwwuuuuh!

Like Marcia said .... i would def voice your opinion on this WHOLE thing and make them work with you. Def try to get that bill to be reduced ... not only for thier unprofessionalism and the mistake, but the fact that you have to go back again (more time off work etc ....) because they couldnt get thier head outta thier azz and pay attention to the patient (whom they want to return for future appointments/business)

im with ya on that one ... GGGRRRRR!

Well, they called me back. Did they apologize? No! But... since my message (and my tone with them when they called back) was very severe (lol) they were very contrite. They insist that the dentist sealed the tooth I asked her to, however. I am going back on Friday... I dunno, I mean, how do I prove that she sealed the wrong tooth? You can't really see sealants... Oh well, I am definitely going to tell them I'm not going to pay to fix their mistake.
When I was a kid, I would hate the way some people would make food, so I learnt how to cook so that I could make stuff the way I liked it. Maybe I should become a dentist so that I can help people take care of their teeth PROPERLY instead of mucking about. hah!

Yes, I'm still bitter. Can you tell? LOL

Silly me; I just posted a new topic on teeth with this perfectly good one here.
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/001004.html

So I see that dentist, at least so far, are getting all bad rap. Well I would like to hear some positive things about teeth too, like how i can get my teeth cleaned, and repaired if needed for the cavities I have.

At this point I have trouble, trusting any establish medical profession in America.

This ia a dilemma indeed.

hehe- thanks malkhouf I just love my screen name, don't you?
It was that book, 'the Alchemist' wot did it! But I thought 'alchemist' was too masculine by itself, so I had to add the extra 'e' to 'feminize' the word hehe.

Trilioth- you should go see a dentist!! Find a good one (that you feel comfortable with). I know it's hard... heck, I'm still looking for one myself (oh dentist of my soul, where art thou? )but some day, one day, your dentist shall arrive, and it'll be happy teeth from then on. Good luck on your search! I'll try to find some info on wholistic (or at least reputable) dentists for yas.

I'm not a fan of dentists either!!!...The last time I got braces, I was trying to close a small gap between my two front teeth, but my dentist ended up just moving the gap two teeth over so now I don't like to smile with people standing on my right

Oh annnnnd..when I went to get my teeth whitened they left me alone with this hot lazer beam pointing in my mouth. I felt it stinging my lip and tried to say something, but they ignored me and went on talking to each other. Then I realized where it was stinging, I had a burn spot on my lip!!!

Now I only go for routine checkups, I'm too afraid to have anymore cosmetic things done. The only person I want playing around in mouth is my boyfriend!

I'm glad that your asserting yourself ;they made an error and that they are responsible for correcting it or compensating you. There have been plenty of times in my younger years when someone made an error (once a hair stylist fried my hair and an entire inch by four inch bald spot was left.)and I was mortified and carried the pain around for years. The weight of this responsibility needs to be shifted back onto them. It simply isn't healthy for your self-esteem and well being to let it slide. Hopefully they will correct this situation.(You actually have grounds for legal action - only if you feel this is a possibility.) I suggest not paying for it and send a letter of explanation for your actions .
There are good dentists out there I hope you find one.
