I JUST made a Doctor's appt. for a physical May 5th.. I don't really want to make one for sooner... I figure there are enough people who know stuff, that I could just get an opinion.. should I go to the Doctor, or should I wait it out? I have a sort of chest cold, that started developing this week. My daughter and son have it as well.. ( I am a kissy mama, therefore, I get their germs.) So.. my throat fels scratchy, and it's sore, but wierder, is that it feels 'fuzzy'. It feels like there is something I haven't quite swallowed...... coating it. It sounds gross ( cuz it is) I looked, and it appears to be white. Not furry white, but definately tinged white.... could it be fungal? Should I go to the doctor, (or actually, do I HAVE to???) Does something like that just go away, or should I treat it... I am going to my Pharmacy tomorrow to ask, but you know, I am freaked out and can't sleep, so of course I post things. THANKS!!!!!!!

It could be fungal, it could be dehydration or it could be discharge from a nasal drip due to coughing or medications. Have you been taking any over the counter stuff because it dries up mucus membranes? Gia IP: Logged |

Try mixing equal parts of viniger and honey and taking a tablespoon. This helps me. You can give this to the kids also +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The above is from another thread. But it does work. and lots of WATER. I don't like the over the counter stuff either Gia. IP: Logged |

I think you need to see a doctor just as a precaution. I'm sorry you feel that way, that sucks! My mom always made me gargle with salt water (EEEEEEEWWWWWW) but I always avoid it because it's so gross, but it did work when I was younger. Also, have some hot tea with lemon and honey along with the vinegar and honey thingy. I dunno if cough drops will help, thats what I use when I get a sore throat. Do you feel like you have to cough anything up?IP: Logged |

Thanks for the responses! I haven't used any over the counter anything, nor have my kids... I can't stop peeing either, and though it might be indicitive of a UTI, It's probably more to do with the fact that I haven't stopped drinking.... When my throat is wet it feels better. I am coughing, and yes, sometimes it is 'productive'.... The cough isn't a big deal in this cold, it is more I 'feel' like I have something in my throat, a coating.... Maybe I will try that vinegar thing.. but getting my kids o do it? *laughs hysterically* I can try............ *meaning; no bloody way will they do it...*Have any remedy that tastes and looks like gummi bears? How 'bout gummi bears.. are they good for the throat? IP: Logged |

Simple advice: Spit, don't swallow. I know that only you would appreciate the humor in that. That uncharacteristic joke unbecoming of a dignified Cappy being said, I would wait a few days and see if it gets better. I think it will. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Oh but I did spit! The white stuff came after that.... what?*wipes a tear* Randall, I am proud of you. Oh, thankfully, our show was cancelled. It worked in my favour, as I can barely speak, let alone sing. It was for tonight....the Universe helped me out of that way by a double booking. IP: Logged |

Hi Pixie, have you tried homeopathy and for the children too - I cant think off the top of my head which remedy to use, but you can lookon the internet. Also have you tried taking echinacea and vit, C to build up the immune system, and if you like I could get your pic up and send some reiki, if you want? Love Sue xxxIP: Logged |

Hi Pixie!!!Well, I’m actually having a pretty bad throat at the moment... I have been in bed for almost two days with fever and a dizzy head… I don’t like over the counter chemicals… My mum has been pressurising to have some antibiotics but I keep away from them as if they were poison… This is just a minor infection for God sake… Let your own inmune system kick the baddies out of there… I’ll give you some of my home remedies… They may take a bit longer to help than the chemicals but they don’t poison your body and build its resistence for the future… 1- Drink plenty of liquids… Your body gets rid of the microbes through sweat and urine… If drinks are hot even better… Your inmune system is activated that way. Some of my favourites are:
- Add a teaspoon of honey to a glass of boiling water. Add a drop of the following mixture: 1 drop of clove essential oil (pure) + 2 drops of lavander essential oil (pure). Honey softens and these oils have antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties and can be drunk diluted. And it tastes lovely!!!
- Heat up pure and freshly squeezed lemon juice and add honey. Gargle with it.
2- I go along with the spitting… The most bad stuff you get out of you, the better… As you said, that infectious mucose coats your throat, sticks to it… A good way to disolve it and make it come out is burning it… Take hot drinks as hot as you can… Careful with your tongue, get it out of the way, letting the drink go direct against the sticky layer in your throat… and you will feel it come out gracefully leaving you a nice relief feeling… 3- Strengthen your inmune system… This works better before the infection has gone really bad but it still helps your organism…
- Vitamin C is a cracker. Always take it natural… Kiwi fruits, lemons and oranges…
- Some herbs such as Propoleo, Echinacea, Lotus, Thyme… You can have them as herbal tea or in tablets.
4- Stay in bed as much as you can… Your body needs all the energy to heal. Sweat and don’t let your sweat go cold. Use an humidifier to stop your throat going dry… Essential oils such as thyme, lavander, clove, eucaliptus and tea tree can be added to the water. You can also add a few drops in a carrier oil and massage yourself with it before going to bed… I hope this is of any help… Get better soon!!! IP: Logged |

Hi pixelpixie,Sorry to hear about you sore throat and chest cold. What works for me is garlic and parsley, you can get this in a drug store or health food store also. It comes in a bottle together. I use this all the time because I'm a smoker. I find it really helps!!! By the way parsley has 5 times the amount of vit. C that your common orange has in it. Hope your feeling better soon!

Solane, I didn’t know about parsley having Vitamin C... I’ll add it to my list… Thanks!!! And yes, garlic is good for so many things, especially to detoxify…Pixie… Glad you liked the tips… I hope they work on you… And yes, as Bluemoon says, orgasms are good for a lot of things… They activate blood circulation and therefore kick your inmune system… Only remember not to let your sweat go cold… Another naughty tip, warm up (bain marie) a bit of tequila and let it kill the germs!!! It will do nicely to get you sleeping…

mmmm. I go along with spitting too, Can you say HAAAAAAWK!? -as a famous person once said "to remove the appearance of disease and to cure disease are the same thing" Or something like that.drink plenty look after yourself Pain relief.? Detatchement.? Maybe on a higher level you give yourself "the sickness" so as to again realise that mind body and spirit are all intertwined, so healing (or focussing)on spririt for instance Will (probably) heal your sickness or give you the illusion that it is so. Accept the changes you need to make (mind). Health IS better than sickness, I think. So yeah maybe you can trick yourself into believing that you are healed ??????????? K?

Hi Solane!!!Of course I don’t mind you asking… Yes, I know a bit about health issues… I love the stuff… As you may have guessed, healing is one of my interests… I assume being a Virgo fits nicely with it… When I was a child I wanted to be a nurse… But the medical system today discouraged me over the years… I couldn’t endure the pain of the sick everyday of my life in those cold impersonal boxes stenching to death that hospitals are. Cutting patients open and treating illnesses locally also made me quiver somehow… But then, while in Britain, this new wave of alternative medicine got my interest… I started reading… I started treating myself with Aromatherapy, I took a course in body massage and I’m planning to learn Reiki… I used to read avidly health and nutrition articles before but now my passion has got worse… I always loved gardening but now ny fascination for plants has got a new dimension: medicinal plants and herbs… All this started to happen at the same time I got seriously interested in Astrology and all kinds of metaphysical stuff… I suppose that unveilled the witch in me You will be shocked if I tell you that I studied Physics at Uni and I work as a Software Engineer in Air Traffic Control… And I did this vocationally, because I love Science and the study of Natural Laws… What about you? What do you do for a living? What are your hobbies?
