Hello everyOne.
I suffered from psoriasis in my teens. But now it is almost completely gone, except for one tiny patch (I will work on that this summer).

I would like to share with you what worked for me.

1) Give up alcohol & cigarettes. Be virtually teetotal. The odd glass of wine or whatever now and then should be ok.
2) Expose the affected areas to moderate sunlight; not too much (otherwise it may cause further damage). Do this as often as possible.
3) Eat a healthier diet; cut down on 'baddies' like coffee and tea- your skin will benefit from any of the well known advice such as drinking more water, eating more fresh fruit/veg, including more omega 3's. Foods rich in B vitimins, vitimin C and zinc are all good. Detoxification is important in the fight against psoriasis. The less strain put on your body/kidneys, then the more time your skin will have to heal itself.
4) Cut down on stress. Do whatever you can to help you relax, whenever you can (LOL!). Singing, meditating, relaxing in a bath with essential oils and spending time with nature are all great. Being creative. Healing your inner S-elf.

5) Meanwhile, use any good skin cream to relieve the itching. There are many good varieties from health shops. Shea-based ones are good, as are essential oils, Dead Sea products and Zambesia Botanica.

Hey LostInStrangeWorld,

my dad has been suffering from it for about 10-12 years now. I think stress with his marriage (mom was sick), the kids and the job triggered it. And he still has to manage it...gets worse depending on the weather. He doesnt eat beef and some acidic foods. And he use to go to a few homeopathic doctors. His last one used to use a magic wand? Was curious about that one...but I really dont think it worked. He no longer goes to them anymore. Doesnt depend on any meds, except for zinc and other vitamins and minerals

One of my friends use to get UV light treatment...not a good idea in the long run, but he had somewhat darker skin pigmentation.
