Has anyone else read about this recently?

I know of several holistic doctors now saying this, and I think I read something in Conscious Choice magazine, too.

It's always been drilled into our heads that sunscreen prevents skin cancer. "ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN!!!!" And now it's the sunscreen that's CAUSING skin cancer??

I don't know who to believe anymore.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

Hi GLLF

Yes, there are conflicting reports on the subject, but I never leave home without my sunscreen.

Whenever a study's done that says something's good for you, you can be sure there'll be annother one saying exactly the opposite. All you can do is go with your gut. I'd say choose a high quality sunscreen and stick with it.

I've read some of the same conflicting reports.

When I have time I will try to investigate further. My feeling is...the holistic doctors are not trying to sell you something. Those who manufacture sunscreen and products which contain sunscreen are trying to sell you something. And if studies claiming products with sunscreen are safe are sponsored by or paid for by anyone with vested interests, those to are suspect.

Ive never heard of that before...Is Conscious Choice magazine online?

I never wear sun screen either. Just try to stay out of direct sunlight, or stay in the shade as much as I can.

I swear by sunscreen. I forgot sunscreen once and got a really bad blistery burn on my arms and back and chest. Sunbathers arent the only ones who get sunburn, you can get sunburns just taking a walk or something like that.

I personally think the risk is greater getting skin cancer from the sun than from sunscreen.

I think the doctors are right when they say it can give skin cancer.
Its not natural, its all chemicals (isnt it?)
If you dont overdo it, being outside in the sun or sunbathing, it shouldnt be that dangerous.
I think about what people used to do in the past, before they invented sunscreen....
And it also makes me think about other creams, body lotions and face creams,
everything they contain.
It cant be good to put it all over your skin every day, like alot of people do.
For instance, expensive brand body lotions,
they are very strong, and it cant be that good to have it on can it? I mean, people spend alot of money to feel better and more attractive, and it might be a strong risk for getting cancer because of it, its kind of crazy.
