I've been on a high fiber diet for a lower (think very low) gastrointestinal problem. It runs (no pun intended) in the family. At any rate, I've lost a considerable amount of weight, about 10 pounds, but I want to maintain the weight I was at. Does anyone have any suggestions for maintining my weight while still getting enough fiber? My weight continues to fall and I don't want it to anymore. On a side note, people always side I was like an old man with hemmorhoids, now I suppose part of that is true. IP: Logged |

Thanks Lotus, I noticed you the second you started posting, your manner of speaking is very interesting. You're calm, collected, and full of insight. Care to post your birth date/time?I suppose I do need more fruits and vegetables, although I feel that I've been eating them nonstop for the past 6 weeks. IP: Logged |

Yup, I agree, the fruits and veggies are very important. I would suggest that you could increase your fat intake a bit--and by that, I mean use a little more extra-virgin cold-pressed olive oil, or some of the other more natural oils. Include some olives and avacados and natural nuts in your diet, too. Be careful not to over-do it, as you don't want the weight to creep back on.Are you vegetarian or vegan, BR? This is my new favorite website: http://www.drmcdougall.com/ I had the opportunity to hear him speak at the NAVS Vegetarian Summerfest and was quite impressed. IP: Logged |

I've been using an herbal colon cleanse once a day. I've maintained my weight and go-once a day. Lots of fiber. And I eat the fruits and veggies. (they call it a colon cleanse, but it's for folks who lack fiber.) IP: Logged |

BR, if you check out the website I posted above, it has lots of suggestions for being vegan, although you could easily apply those to being vegetarian. The most common distinction between the two is that vegans eat no animal by-products, including dairy.I am not completely vegan, but eat very little dairy. IP: Logged |
