For those who loved "Supersize Me," this is Morgan's wife's website: www.healthychefalex.com She's written a book with the detox she designed for Morgan when he came off the McDonald's poison. I'd been hoping she was working in a vegan restaurant, as I'm headed to NYC in September and thought I might try to find it. But it looks like she's doing private consultations. IP: Logged |

Hey Trillian Cool - just the kinds of foods I need to eat. I like the way she delves into so much detail with meal ideas, really helps. I also like the link from the site, I didn't know she was a holistic health counselor; http://www.integrativenutrition.com/graduates/ajamieson.aspx She's left her email contact on site, perhaps I'll ask her if she's planning on opening a vegan restaurant in time? ..and perhaps have time to be an occasional 'vegan moderator' for LL? ------------------ "Number is the Word but is not utterance; it is wave and light, though no one sees it; it is rhythm and music, though no one hears it. I FINALLY saw Supersize Me yesterday after a loooong wait. It was fantastic. When the vegan girlfriend held up a menu titled "morgan's detox diet", I desperatly wanted a closer look but of course couldn't quite make it out. Thanks trill IP: Logged |

ArtlovesDawn,A friend is allergic to wheat and he shi*ts his pants for a few days after eating it. You'll know because you will feel terrible after eating it. IP: Logged |

I signed up for e-mails from Alex. I think I've developed a slight crush on her. I don't think I have any allergies, but I must admit to feeling worlds better when I don't eat white bread or pasta. I mean infinitely better. I seem to do ok with a little whole wheat bread or pasta though, especially if I keep it down to one serving every day or two. I'm not certain I could survive w/o pasta. Why are you scared, art? Are your reactions to wheat and corn severe? IP: Logged |

What i have learned in 46 years is this: I can eat whole grain bread and pasta but not too many servings per day. I can eat white bread and pasta too but anything ( this goes for the whole wheat too) that has a large list of preservatives on it will give me trouble. I thought it was the wheat and here it was the additives. SO therefore... i do read all labels. Less is better. White pita seems ok for me but not ww pita. ww breads from the health food store but not with ( cultured wheat starch) or "contains wheat products". This is usually processed crap that doesn't belong in there. I started to look up all preservatives and it seems like anything processed or man-created is a no no for me. If it comes from a natural nature originating source i can usually handle it. What i found is ok:Plain white bagels from a bagel shop. Not the ones with seeds, flavorings etc... those will bloat me up.( from all the preservatives) Regualr white pasta or noodles. Not prepackaged flavored stuff. Low sodium whole wheat breads. Brown Rice pasta with no other preservatives . I do ok on sprouted wheat stuff as long as there aren't many preservatives. I find that bread and buns in upscale restaurants are ok...better quality. I find that chain restaurants buy more and more stuff pre-cooked, preseasoned, pre made. This is preservative city and its hard for me to eat this stuff anymore.
For me it came down to reading labels and getting educated. I just recently in fact added back more white bread stuff and i noticed im not bloated all the time.
God, i feel like such a virgo having written this. My hubby would laugh at this. IP: Logged |
