Okay this would be interesting.

Please choose one of following in the way you sleep at night:

1.Overturned sleeping: Sleep face down.
2. Sleeping with covering eyes: Sleep facing up, with one hand raised up covering the eyes.
3. Hands closed behind the head: Facing up. Hands raised and closed behind the head.
4. Sleep sideways with hands(palms) just below the head forming a cushion.
5. Sleep sideways, the hands are stretched and raised and the head rests on the biceps.

Well I guess I was wrong. People sleep differently depending on their state of mind. I, for the most part, sleep type 4. This may have to do with the programmer job that I do which is quite mental. And also I do realize now that once a while I sleep face down (type 1) especially on an afternoon. But this is very rare, like once a month.

Ok here goes for your own interpretations:

Type 1: Persons who sleep overturned and face down are ignorant about their problems and leave themselves on fate and time. They lack patience, think too much and remain depressed. These people are also timid, but sometimes they turns rigid. These people are charitable and compassionate and feel abnormal during disputes, burglarly and cowardice.

2. Sleeping with covering eyes:
People who sleep with their eyes covered by hands are always ignorant to their problem rather than solving them, because closing your eyes is not a solution of any problem. They know why they are doing that. These people are aware of their bad habots and never try to convert themselves into good ones. These people do not hear good discourses carefully and if they do they soon forget it. These people are selfish by nature therefore they always think about their own interests, and never think about others.

3. Hands closed behind the head:
People who sleep in this posture want to abandon their tensions and depressions. Some thoughts always disturb them but they try to remove them from their mind. Their behavior has anguish, cruel, and has no patience. Suc persons sometimes perform foolish deeds and cause injury to themselves. These people do not respect the feelings of others and never accept their own defeat. They want to get everything before time. These people are undoubtedly delighful, but it is only for their own selfish deeds.

4. Pleasant Sleeping:
Persons sleeping comfortably are free of any mental agitation and worry. They often use their hands in place of a pillow and do not like any type of interference during sleep and are late for work. To get a pleasant sleep is the only ambition at that time. Tired and mentally person often takes this postures and women often try to sleep after severe tiredness in this posture.

5. Half side sleeping (Helpless position):
Individuals who sleep in this posture are suffering from mental and physical abnormalities, and in this situation their hands naturally comes on their forehead. They are unable to decide to solve their problems. These people are mentally orritated and always change thier sides while sleeping at regular intervals. These people are compassionate and always try to help others. If this happens due to physical or mental pain then their character should not be judged by this.

Well thats a very natural way to sleep because of the way our body is designed.
In yoga they call it the shavana pose and students are adviced to sleep in this position after a strenous routine.

I am also considering another age old saying "never sleep with your legs pointing south." For better health the head must be pointed south while sleeping. Because, the magnetitic fields of the earth enters thru your head and leaves thru your feet.
This way the excrement present in our intenstine is pushed down the body aiding digestion and our heart and brain would praise us.

I wonder how much of this is true? My bed has always been placed in a head pointing south, so I won't know.

My boyfriend ma taught me the deal about sleeping with your head pointed North. And i tell ya, when i first positioned my bed so my head would face north - it was the best night sleep i had in a long time. From them on, my head faces north. Although lately i havent been getting a good nights sleep - our bed is shot. Its literally like sleeping in a bowl! ...

Dear Angel,
I thought head must point south during sleep. This is all so confusing right.

In the north pole of earth the fields go up and out and enters again thru the south pole. Therefore when we place our head south, the flux would enter thru our head.

I cant get to sleep unless I fall asleep in this position. My head points to the South when I sleep though. I tried sleeping in the North direction but couldnt sleep that way. I forgot...what is this direction suppose to do for you or represent?

DayDreamer,
Head facing south aids digestion. There may be more I am inclined to believe.

Its easy to remember imagine your body is a magnet which has north pole(head) and south pole (feet). It is but natural that the head (north) be placed facing south pole of earth. Remember how we learnt in school that when we suspend a magnet freely with string its south pole would be aligned with north pole of earth and its north pole with the south pole.

I was just wondering that whether it is the position of sleep that effect the mental state or the mental state effects the sleeping position? For example if I sleep in position 1 and I change from that and start sleeping in position 2 or 4, will that have an effect on my state of mind?
I have read that in Vaastu Shastra it is advised for the head to point to the North.

There will always be debate on what direction to sleep with no experimental results. Its interesting that Vastu Shastra would say quite the contrary to what some other people would say.

I would imagine that our mental state dictates what position we would sleep in, that is if we are natural and just being.

If I am not tired, why would I go to sleep.
If I want to change my sleeping style as you mention, then yes we may have to form a habit and eventually switch. We have to race against our mind in that case.

Once again, these are only sign language that one must use to know themselves better or their loved ones better

I heard a friend once say to lie side ways on the left (heart) side is best. I do not understand why? May be he meant after a heavy meal because lying on back would put pressure on the stomach.

Anyways....I haven't taken this article from a book and it seems theres much to learn on this activity called sleep which most people primarily spends approx 33 percent of each 24 hour period, besides eating, work and sex

26, I feel very abnormal during a burglary too... especially if the burglar is a coward.

Also... I am on the opposite end of the spectrum from timid ... definitely not rigid.

Actually, I'm quite flexible... pliable and adaptable.

IAT - i got a lil clarification ... seems i misunderstood in the beginning. Your head points south so your are looking north - is the way i should have positioned my bed. SO seems what you found in regards to head pointing south was right on!! Thanks for that ... otherwise i wouldnt have known.

Thanks Angel. I realized that its nice to describe it by talking in terms of our feet pointing in the direction, since it does not have eyes

The body is a magnet. Head on top attuned to Father in Heaven. Feet on the earth touching the divine Mother. So head in the North is correct for magnetic repolarisation, But the only way to check is to experiment by swopping your pillow around. But try something beautiful. On your back, straight. One hand on the skin over your solar plexus (tan tien) and the other between your breasts. Accupuncture CV16. Not only is it a way to love yourself, but it is not possible to have a heart attack while in this position. (I speak with 40 years as a Chinese Remedial therapist).

>>> Head on top attuned to Father in Heaven. Feet on the earth touching the divine Mother.

This is not true when you are sleeping and not even true when you are standing. It may be true that when you standup and your head is pointing towards your soul(Sun) and your feet is touching divine earth. Where's our mind (moon) during all this ?
Hope it makes sense.

BTW when prophets die they sleep with their face their head(eyes) towards East (Jerusalem/Saudi-Mecca) that is if they are muslims or jews.

So the temple of the father could be assumed to be on the earth. I for one believe that its in our heart. Temple of both father-mother God.
