The following foods, I read in a magazine, are stressbusters. They help you to cope with stress, provide antioxidants to fend off oxidation damage and keep your neurotransmitter levels steady for an improved mood. Here they are:

1) Asparagus
2) Beef
3) Milk
4) Cottage cheese
5) Oranges
6) Almonds
7) Blueberries
8) Tuna
9) Fortified cereals
10) Potatoes

bah! I'm screwed!

Alcohol?

Are these supposed to be foods to eat if you want to be stressed?... because alcohol alleviates anxiety. Granted, long term effects from alcoholism can bring about stress in your life. But, as far as stress goes, it sort of takes it away for the minute. Hence all of the alcoholism.

Maybe alcohol should be replaced with marijuana on the list. Marijuana tends to give anxiety rather than inhibit it.

Just a thought.

Bananas should be number one on that list. No competition.

Cayce was kind of funny about bananas. He warned to be careful about them - only well ripened, i.e. at least speckled. I forget the reason. I suppose I could look it up.

Compare antioxidant and stress reducing chemical levels on that list to cacao. It seems to be in a league of it's own.

I'd like to add Raw Oats to that list.

Ra, if you could find what cayce said specifically that would be great, I couldn't find anything in my searches.

Thanks Ra, I'd be interested, too. Perhaps I'll do a little google search.

Beef? Eating a cow would do nothing but stress me out.

I like beef, but I can't imagine it's on the stress-buster list.

I love bananas too.

I think that lately what's been playing havoc on me are salt and sugar. Both seem to be tougher for me to deal with lately. Kinda thankful for my Virgo moon about now. Putting me back into more of a health kick.

Beef provides certain animo acids (namely L-carnitine) that help your nerves utilize Essential Fatty Acids and other nutrients. It is also an excellent source of iron and certian B vitamins. Just don't eat too much and stick to lean cuts.

I wonder how potatoes got on that list. The skin is highly nutritous, yes, but how many people eat the skin? The inner flesh/pulp is very starchy and isn't much better than white rice. You'd do better with carrots and apples (with thw skin still one them!).

I love almonds and oranges...in fact, they're great togehter (mandarin oranges sprinkled with slivered roasted almonds...yum yum yum...), but cottage cheese? Gross. It's like eating curdled snot. Yuck. I'll stick with yogurt as far as spoiled dairy goes.

I am a huge fan of wakame (a type of edible seaweed) - it provides various minerals, including potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron, as well of a wide variety of other trace minerals. It also has other benefical properties, as seen in the low rate of heart disease, cancer and diabetes in Asian culture like Japan that use wakame a lot. You can usually get a big bag of dried wakame at you Asian grocer for $3-4 and when rehydrated, you just add them to whatever you want - salad, soup, sandwiches (you might wisht o avoid prepared soups with wakame, though, as they tend to be very high in MSG). I think it's yummy, but I'm kind of addicted to it.

What a funny thought BR!
