i was shopping in the baby department the other day with my babe, looking for some accoutrements to help with his transition from diapers...and i was just entranced with the softest, sweetest baby blankets...
when i held them they felt like spun clouds, so soft were they. however, upon looking at the kind of material they were made of, i became somewhat alarmed.
you see, i recently purchased a robe made of the same spun polyester, soft as a cloud, but so suffocating! each time i'd wear it i'd get so sweaty and short of breath...
even though i was cold prior to wearing the robe, not long after having it on i'd be so uncomfortable that i'd almost throw it off my body, steaming, and feeling as though i were gasping for air.
so my thought is, if that material felt that way to me, how harmful must it be for a new baby? i shudder to think of it.
please be aware of the need for baby's skin to breathe and the need for natural, organic materials for baby's attire and covers. there is much literature concerning the important need for natural fibers in baby care, and i can't emphasize enough this necessity.
i was so distressed with the awful sick feeling i had while wearing that robe, that i didnt even bother to pack it after i took it with me at a recent stay at a hotel.
just some baby thoughts.
