Figured this was the forum.
I just got off BC pills.. I was tired of the hormonal thing, wanted something safe and effective, but that won't mess with my hormones anymore.
*as a result, this week, I am super emotional though....*
Watched 'The Notebook' and cried, cried , cried. even after it was over..hahaha.. and forget about any normal interactions. I feel burnt out emotionally, and blase ( due to being over-emotional)
anyway.. I digress ( yes, I do that)

Any experiences? How was the insertion procedure? I am still scared about that.. I don't exactly know why, just that it is IN your UTERUS.. so, past what I deem to be the natural perimetres of the vagina, and then we're entering the BODY.. the inner womb...
Unless I have a baby, I take my cervix for granted.
Anyway.. it'll probably be a while until I can get it 'fitted' but I have indicated I wanted this method.
I'm scared. *but as anything, once i do it, I will be okay*
Please let me know your experiences?

I've never heard anything good about it... I dunno, I'm not trying to put you off but it just seems so unnatural to have something like that in your uterus... !

Errr....thanks for offering your words of support, guys- LOL!
Gosh, thats scarey, especially if you're a worrier like me! Why can't contraception be more simple?! I tried the 'natural methods' and have given birth to two sons since...

Sorry if I sounded unsupportive - didn't mean to be! I just like to weigh up the good and the bad of situations and my personal approach to most things is, if it's not natural to your body don't do it! That is just me though, so it may be the right choice for pixelpixie.

I had a copper 7 and a copper T. I loved them.
The string was the only problem. It required trimming to not be felt by my partner.

e-mail me if you like, if you have any questions. I really do not want to talk too much about my personal experiences here.

Hi PP, I know I'm a little late w/this post however, I've had mine in for about 6 months and the worst I can say about it is are the cramps that I've gotten during my period are intense, however, other than that, I haven't had any problems w/it.

Hiya pixie,

I know a couple of women who had the IUD, and neither one of them had the greatest experience with it (one told me it gave her bad cramps, and the other said it fell out at some point). I haven't tried it personally, but have been on the Pill for a few years, and it works quite nicely. I haven't really come across much evidence that it's bad for you; on the contrary, it can protect against several cancers.

I just wanted to tell you to really be sure before you go in for the IUD.. If the pill you're on makes you hormonal & moody, perhaps it's time to try another one, until you find one that works. When I moved down here from Toronto, I had to pick one from here, so I tried Ortho Tricyclen, and that messed up my cycle, so I decided to stick to the monophasic kind. I think it was ORtho Tricyclen that had me so moody, I'd be bawling my eyes out during the placebo phase, finding myself unable to stop crying! Since then, I've tried Ortho Cyclen, Ortho-cept and YAZ, all of which worked for me.

Oh, that reminds me... trying a low-dose hormone pill might help too. Ortho Tricyclen Lo is low on the estrogen, and Yaz has lower % of the newer progesterone that is in Yasmin. The SHape magazines out there have a little tear-out card that let you try OTC-Lo free for a month, if you want to give it a shot.

Let us know how it goes, pixie! Best,
Sunshine
