Hey,why is it that most cheeses still use rennet? Ive read there's also plant rennet. There's also pepsin, and also gelatin... Most people dont know there are animal by-products in some of their animal free foods. I heard some mono- and di-glycerides are animal derived too. IP: Logged |

Well if you're a strict vegetarian, then you'd probably want to avoid pepsin.It's an enzyme that is taken from the stomach lining of animals, most likely cows and pigs. Here's a list of ingredients/chemicals that may contain animal byproducts...if you're really strict and dont even eat eggs or drink milk then I guess this would be something to consider. http://www.stephen-knapp.com/ingredients_and_chemicals_that_may_contain_meat.htm You know it is sooo annoying that there's gelatine in like almost all yogarts, with the exception of some of the plain ones. It's not necessary and that's what tees me off.
