I'm 16 years old, 5'2", and I weigh 117 pounds. Is this a healthy weight? And is it okay to be a size 6 at this height?

I just got back from a theater program, and my friend and I were flipping through the costume book. Most of the other girls, who were my height if not taller, were thinner and were a size 2 or 4. I immediately felt like the "fat girl" which was a pretty horrible feeling.

I want to lose a little bit of weight, but only enough to be a size 2 or 4. I don't want to be a size 0 cause that's unhealthy for someone my height. What would be most effective for this case? Any tips would be great!

Your weight sounds fine. Just focus on eating plenty of fruits and vegetables; eat small, frequent meals; drink lots of water; and do some activity you enjoy every day (could be a short walk, hike, run, swim, bike ride, etc. Doesn't have to be far or long, just make sure you move). If you eat a healthy diet and live a healthy lifestyle, your weight will take care of itself.

Weight training is awesome for sculpting your body. The scale might not change much, but you will look a lot "smaller" weighing the same amount and will probably drop a dress size. Don't worry about getting bulky, that won't happen to a female without steroids. You don't even have to join a gym. You can do bodyweight exercises like pushups, squats, lunges, pull-ups, chin-ups, handstand pushups, dips, etc. which don't need any equipment. You can do them on the floor in your home. Do a google search for "bodyweight exercises" for some ideas.

Some people claim cardio (running, etc.) is the best way to lose weight, but I don't think this is true. It makes you lose both muscle and fat, so that you are smaller, but not very toned, and can still look flabby. For me, weight training has been the key to looking slim and healthy...

yeah, I've started doing some stretches that I learned at my theater program, and its helped a lot. I haven't seen a drastic difference yet, but I always feel good afterward. and I do sit ups and pushups too, which also makes me feel good.

what would be some examples of some good, small, quick meals? I'm never quite sure....cause I'll always seem too eat too much of a particular food group when I try this.
