A friend told me she lost a lot of weight and kept it off, by having a cup of ginseng tea every morning. Is Ginseng a good supplement? I don't want to lose weight, just want a natural energy boost. I dislike the jittery feeling of caffeine, so I won't try those energy pills out on the counters.

I started taking ginseng caplets (Panax, root, 250mg) last spring because I wanted to cut down on caffeine but still have some (un)natural energy I take one with water when I get up, and I take another with lunch. They help me get thru my busy days and nights, and I have no problems sleeping. I've tried some of the teas with ginseng, and they do help with weight loss -- although nothing drastic -- but weight loss depends on a lot more than some magic-bullet tea.....

I like the boost it gives me -- it doesn't make me at all "wired" or "jittery".....

Cool, I'll give them a try. My weight is fine, but having extra energy will be awesome!

Awww, thats too bad Jani. My friend drastically changed her life habits by eliminating most red meats (consumes mostly fish/veggies) and daily physical activities. The ginseng is more like a boost for her rather than a diet drink.

As for me, I distrust anything with the word "diet" in it. When I stopped thinking abut the latest diet, and focused on healthier eating and exercise I lost weight and kept it off.
