Blue:I know you're going to school to be a doc... a psychologist, right?
In the past, I was a transportation consultant for an environmental firm. I am fully aware of the normal pH of body; I was curious as to what the company did, and I ended up doing pH testing when they needed help. Now, a few years ago at the age of 21, I was diagnosed with severe acid reflux. My internist did not want me on prescription medication, so I altered my eating habits. (Runs in the family; Dad has Barrett's eshopogus (sp).) I dropped all bread and pasta products; this fixed the problem. At that time I had read about body pH and the difference between health and sickness. I took my pH then and it was in the mid 6s. Strange I thought.. I did not pursue it more than that, ie. try to correct it.
Now the universe is sending me books and articles in magazines about pH and the health difference between having a 6.8 and a 7.2 reading.
I'm not sure my reading now; I have yet to buy some saliva paper. I've started taking 3 calcium/mag pills and 6 vit A & D pills a day, and I already feel a difference. I am breathing better (seasonal asthmatic due to pollen and mold), and feel a bit more energetic.
According to the Calcium Factor, there are plenty of studies showing the benefits of calcium intake. I'm a huge veggie and fruit eater, so I don't worry about being acidic really. I want to know more about what I might experience personally with increased calcium intake. I realize that the excess will be expelled, and I have read that there is no real danger of calcium overload unless you take an unreasonable amount of supplements a day.
So, I just wanted to know if anyone had had any experience with increased calcium intake in relation to keeping the body healthy and alkaline?
