Over the past year I've begun to experience episodes which resemble mild panic attacks. Sometimes I get palpitations/racing heart (more severe) and other times I just feel breathless, shivery and emotionally 'anxious', for no apparent reason. The reason I'm worried is that these states have little to do with what is happening around me/in my life/in my head. The breathless/anxious feeling happens pretty frequently- for example I've had it every day for the past 3-4 days (though that's a bit more common that usua). Do these sounds like panic attacks? Does anybody know herbal remedies which might help? Any experience with this kind of thing? Thank you! (I have an air-heavy chart, lots of Aquarius, and Pluto squaring sun, moon, mercury and venus..if that's relevant)IP: Logged |

whiterabbit, yes, sounds like panic attacks to me, I had them when I went through my divorce, worried what he would do, anyway, Mind Over Matter, it's like a negative force, it's our fears, it's an illusion, my daughters also went through them, so severe to the point of passing out, she said, she thought she was going to die, medicine was the worst thing, first thing we tried, because it was so severe, after 3 days of that, I took Over with Her, and we overcame the Fear..she had to realize the POwer was within her, and that this was in her head, she was feeding the Fear, I am so proud of her, she learned to OverCome this at 15, within a couple of days, she had mastered it, and they have never come back..she'll be 17 this July... I wrote about all this somewhere in LL...distract yourSelf immediately when it comes, have a cross word puzzle handy, things to make your mind concentrate on an activity.. time to rationalize, and take Over... it takes practice... here's my email, if you need to talk to someone lotusheart10@yahoo.ca, that's .ca and anyOne can email me. ... I am going to say a Prayer for you, and Send some Healing Energy right now... . IP: Logged |

Lotus is right, try not to focus on the sensations when they occur. A good technique I've found is to call it something silly like a "flobble" or a "floozle." Say to yourself, oh its a floozle it'll be over within a couple minutes. Due to the nature of a panic response it really can't last more than a few minutes anyway. It's important not to react to the symptoms, ie, OMG I feel CRAZY I'm going to DIE. Instead think, its just a flibble it'll go away in a second. Nothing bad will ever happen to you because of a panic attack. Dont' chnage your life routine because of this, don't avoid places where you get panic attacks, you must be brave and continue to live your life as you were living it. Anxiety in general has to be managed. Think of anxiety like a volcano, if you let the mild anxiety build and build over time, it will eventually erupt! You must take time to manage your anxiety the way a manager manages a restaurant. You need to begin to learn relaxation techniques, a yoga class is often a good place to start.
Try this: before bed every night, set aside 20 min to lay on the floor and listen to soft relaxing music. Try to breathe deeply and let all your muscles relax, focus your mind on your breath or on the sound of the music, try to focus your mind away from the internal dialogue in your mind. Good luck! Thank you for the great advice. I particularly like the idea of giving this state some silly name and thus transforming it into something trivial.. I think that would work very well for me. Power of the mind! I will try all of your suggestions. Thanks again.P.S. coffee and cigarettes definitely seem to make it worse IP: Logged |

Studies have shown that something incredible like 70% of peopel with panic attacks can stop them by just cutting caffeine out of their diet. Not sure about nicotene, it functions as both a stimulant and a depresssant so it's hard to say with that one. Hope the advice helps. IP: Logged | |
