Thanks Naiad!

The title certainly had my attention. It's interesting to learn about a diet. In this case the Hare Krishna Diet...anyway, I love gathering recipes. I'm going to save this title to my Amazon wishlist.

Many thanks

Lake

hi Lake ~

i'm glad that you appreciate the idea of karma being included in what we choose to eat. i believe that most readily.

are you veggie or vegan? i love indian cuisine, and what a great and tasty selection of non-meat entrees it features. simple foods too, that you can make with very basic ingredients, with a good supply of spices handy.

i have very little funds for things like food these days, and i've noticed at our local indian market that i can purchase high quality staples, such as basmati rice and lentils, at a very affordable rate.

so i went seeking a good veggie indian cuisine cookbook, with basic and simple recipes, and these hare krishna ones are the ones that appeared most often.

there's another that i found, that sounds awesome. i'll find it and return with the title soon. i mentioned the karma free one because i love the title also.

we create karma with our every act, including how we nourish our bodies.

best wishes for your culinary and karmic endeavors....

much love, naiad

oh my gosh - what are those fried things called on the bottom left hand side of the book? those?! I LOVE them. they have potato and peas in them and the - ohhhh, shoot, it just hit me with help from the ethers. SAMOSAS!!!!! I absolutely ADORE them. i think i might just get some this weekend. I also adore chick peas - i like chick peas with the spinach and i like chana (without the spinach). i like lentils, most beans i like to tell you the truth, most salads although i'm not crazy about mixing tangerines, apples, walnuts and stuff like that with it (i forget what that is called - i did NOT like that). I like each of those things separately but not together. I had feta cheese in my salad once and it was excellent.

i went to the Jagannath Rathayatra event near me in 2006. there was some interesting information up on poster boards about the way of karma. i don't eat beef or pork as it is, it's been a while and don't ask me how long because it hasn't been that important for me to keep up. i DID cave in one day last year - october 31st, to be exact because i was craving, of all things, a hot dog. I wanted a hot dog soooooooooooooooooo bad, that when i ate it, it tasted like cardboard and i knew that was the end of my beef and pork days. it's really weird because traditionally, in my family, my grandmother cooks ribs for the new year's dinner so, no more of that. it doesn't taste the same. I really LOVE to eat (jupiter in cancer) and I mean really. anyway, i'm a sucker for vegetables although the only vegetables i'm not crazy crazy crazy about is okra and asparagas. i have to admit, carbs (nan is so good) are my weakness especially rice - i could eat rice every damn day, if i could. i cut down on white bread, etc. and opt for whole wheat and pumpernickel. I LOVE stews and soups. i like some spicy food.

ANYWAY, i also saw a picture, at the event i mentioned, and short summary about this form of krishna conscious martial arts which was pretty cool. i can't remember the name of it though. no sword, stick or really limbs being used to hit on someone else but rather the use of clothing articles i.e. scarves and such as a means to subdue an attacker. it was really cool.

anyway - cool post.
