Hey, I was wondering if there was a polite way NOT to shake hands with people? I'm kind of like Howie Mandel - I don't want other people's germs, and ALSO, I don't like it when people (mostly men) squeeze my hand so hard!!! Even some women squeeze my hand too hard! I'm talking vice grip!!! IP: Logged |

He does the fist to fist thing (I have no idea what it's called) You know knuckle to knuckle. When I don't want to touch, I do a small wave. (I do realize how dorky this sounds and how old I must be to not know what it's called) IP: Logged |

I completely agree with lalalinda here.A simple wave, or hand held high in the air with a "hey, what's up" or "nice to meet you" should suffice quite nicely. This also let's another know that you are comfortable. This tones a situation to a casual level as well. No one would suspect a fear of or distaste for germs at all.

Doctors all across the world shake the hands of their patients, even sick patients, and do you know why doctors do this? Because not shaking hands is extremely offensive in most cultures, not acknowledging someone with physical contact is considered very rude and will not help one socially at all. The reason doctors get away with shaking sick people's hands is that they've learned not to touch their face, and wash their hands frequently, I work in a hospital, train yourself to not touch your face, and to wash multiple times a day, you won't get sick!IP: Logged |

Yeah, I do wash my hands MULTIPLE times a day. It's just gross shaking dirty, sweaty, squeezing hands. I just don't like it. Germs, or not. IP: Logged |

Hug them then.Visualize a white protective auric shield around yourself and just hug 'em instead. Touch hearts, not hands. IP: Logged |

BlueRoamer! You are absolutely correct! An Infectuous Disease expert I consulted with said the same thing! It is the hand to mouth, eyes and nose contact that spreads the most germs. Hand washing and using a disposable paper to turn off the dirty faucet helps. Use the corner of your shirt if you must turn a knob on a door. Use lysol wipes before touching a grocery cart. Just some of the tips he gave me when my son was little and had heart troubles.------------------ ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ ~ if you keep doing what you did, you'll keep getting what you got.~ }><}}}(*> <*){{{><{ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~ IP: Logged |
