i adapted a great hot chocolate recipe to be the following wonderful spicy ambrosia ~ingredients 1 - 2 cups sugar 1/3 cup water, very hot 1/4 - 1/3 cup cocoa powder 1/8 tsp salt 2 - 3 cups plain soymilk pinch to 1/8 tsp (or more) cayenne pepper (high heat unit) 3/4 tsp vanilla combine sugar, water, cocoa, and salt in a saucepan, stirring over medium high heat until boiling. continue stirring for a minute after mixture boils. remove from heat and stir in soymilk, cayenne and vanilla. heat until hot, but not boiling. experimenting with different amounts of the ingredients is fun. for example, less sugar, and/or more cocoa, makes the chocolate richer and deeper. less milk makes a deeper, more chocolately chocolate. of course the amount of cayenne varies widely, depending on how hot your taste is. fulfilling, very soothing, calming and rejuvenating beverage. sometimes i will have this and some cheese or bread as a light meal. exquisite.

I enjoy the same! Mayan chocolate! Milk of any kind not needed unless you want creaminess! I like drinking it with dark chocolate covered coffee beans and as you said, some cheese. Biscotti goes well with it too! Or shortbread. Or Hazelnut poppyseed bread toasted. ------------------ "Heaven doesn't want me and Hell is afraid I'll take over and start a rehab for the damned!" ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ ~ if you keep doing what you did, you'll keep getting what you got.~ }><}}}(*> <*){{{><{ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~ IP: Logged |

Actually no, never saw that movie. Is it worth seeing? I am more into historical or science fiction.

i saw the movie Chocolat years ago....before i truly appreciated chocolate. i did appreciate Johnny Depp though -- ever since his 21 Jump Street Days. i am appreciative of deserts and smoothies as well, commercial or homemade.more recently, i've learned of the miraculous healing properties of cayenne, so have been making a cayenne-lemon-honey tea. also was making the chocolate recipe. one day after making both, i tasted some of the cayenne with the chocolate....it was divine! so i started adding a little cayenne to the chocolate....and it was very pleasing indeed. Hello Sweet Naiad,I keep coming back to this page, it finally occured to why My mother made a wonderful dish called "Mole" (mo lay) with chicken, chocolate, chiles, and peanuts. It was so wonderful and brings back "taste memories" from my happy childhood. http://www.ramekins.com/mole/recipesmole.html if you liked the movie "chocolat" you will surely like the movie "like water for chocolate" thanks for the smile IP: Logged |
