Hi,
I've been having alot of back pain and issues for many years and decades. I went for a evaluation and the doctor order MRIs and Lyrica.

After doing some research, I found this drug is used for Fibromyalgia and is an ANTI-CONVULSANT!!! This worries me because I certainly do not have seizures nor do I have epilepsy. Since this is a new drug I really do not have any way of knowing how it will effect me in the long term. What will happen if I go off of it??? could this potentially make me get seizures?

I'm interested in knowing if anyone uses Lyrica successfully or if anyone takes a pain medication successfully that is not Lyrica. Or maybe anyone else with chronic back problems ( I mean chronic years and years) has found great ways of dealing with pain.
thanks

I have a severely herniated disc at L4-L5 and have been on Percocet and Flexeril for over a year now. My pain management doctor put me on Lyrica to see if it would help. After 3 days the side effects were so horrible I stopped taking it. It tookk a week at least for the side effects to go away.

I highly recommend not taking Lyrica. The side effects are just too dangerous. Everyone with back issues that I know who tried Lyrica all had terrible experiences with it.

Hi
sorry to hear about your back. I was wondering what side effects you were experiencing. So far I've been on Lyrica for three days and seem OK, but slightly "sedated" I'm only up to two pills a day and not the full 3x daily.

I just don't like the idea of putting chemicals into my body, but the pain...
I'm considering acupuncture, but I'm concerned about the cost.
