Diwali is a festival of lights. We burst crackers make lot of sweets and fried stuff (all no nos for diets lol), wear new clothes and draw rangoli. It goes on for 5-6 days. Some days overlap or come after a gap of a day or two. The dates are according to Hindu calendar. It is said that the return of Lord Rama after defeating Ravana was celebrated in his Kingdom on his arrival. First day is called Dhanteras i.e. worshiping Dhan=Wealth (jewels, money, business registers etc). Second is Narak Chaturdashi where family and frnds gather together and burst crackers early in the morning before dawn and share sweet meats during the day. Third Balipratipada where King Bali in Indian mythology was sent to the underworld by Vishnu. Fourth Padva where husband is applied a paste called utna (its made of chikpea powder, milk, cream and/or some other ingredients of ayurveda) by his wife and given a bath. Later he is offered aarti and in turn he gives her a gift. Its fun. Fifth is pooja of Laxmi Goddess (again goddess of wealth). Sixth day is Bhaubeej where sister performs the same process as between husband and wife, for her brother. These two days ladies as wives or sisters can have a gala time 'troubling' their hubbys/brothers and extracting gifts from them. Men enjoy it equally during aarti making fun of their better halves in lighter vein and chiding their sisters over gifts. Its fun time basically where all the diets go for a big toss. Several days before the period are spent in house cleaning making sweets etc. The atmosphere is just like Christmas.

This is a Rangoli. We draw any design with powder colours or any other decorative material, in front of the main door or gate. And light small lamps after sunset.

This is an aarti -

Look at the sweets and the crackers in this site as you scroll below. The third picture on the site shows Goddess Laxmi's worship.

If fat turns to muscle, isn't that just as good? If you weigh yourself during, you can short-circuit the magic.

Hello,
I had committed for 45 days of color diet at the begining, I could do another 8 days, iam traveling on 25th dec, so will not be able to do red bulb therapy for that day, so it makes 53 days, so I need suggestion whether I should stop on 45 th day or continue till 24 th dec, which make it 53 rd day.

I'd go 53.
