i have been making a lemon and ice smoothie every morning including the lemon zest. has anyone else done this? I feel better, my skin looks better and my BM are easy and regular. Any one else have the experience and why does this work better with lemons than other citrus?

Lemons are known as a wonderful way to detox your liver. If your liver is cleaner, your skin has to do less work cleansing your body of toxins, so I think that explains the skin Lots of cleanses include lemon in water right when you wake up at least 20 mins before you eat to help the cleansing process.

Apparently they alkaliize your system despite them being "acid" and our system likes being in an alkaline state.

There was an excellent post a few months back on the benefits of an alkaline system.
I printed it off and gave it to my friend Jim who was diagnosed wuth terminal lung cancer back in January.
They have not treated him (with either chemo or radio) because they said there was no benefit and that he had approx 4 - 6 weeks.

He said his dearest wish was to make it through the summer to see his daughter graduate and was there anything, however bizarre ,I could suggest.

I bought him a purple plate, printed off the alkaline suggestions and got him the herb Sutherlandia.
Yesterday Jim completed a 15 mile sponsored walk for cancer charities.
He knows Nature will take it's course but from already looking like a cadaver in January he looks amazingly robust.
Lemons rock!!

The above and also lemons make water more acidic so it hydrates you a hundred times better. Eyes sparkle and skin is clearer when you are fully hydrated.

thanks for the insights-my body craves my morning lemon smoothie now and, I believe now about the better hydration because I used to drink what seemed like gallons of water and still be thirsty. Now I am more easily hydrated.

And Jim is still hanging in there.
He's getting his summer.
We are having dinner together Tuesday night and....he's still drinking lemon juice, taking Sutherlandia and sleeping with the purple plate.
Somethings working.....

When I was 9 years old, I dreamed surgeons opened up a patient and squeezed lemon juice onto cancer cells to kill them.

When I had a breakdown 15 years ago, I drank a glass of water each morning with a freshly picked and squeezed lemon in it. I don't know why, but I felt that my anger associated with my breakdown would contribute to cancer taking hold of me.

Here I am, 15 years later fighting fit and healthy and loving life!!! I exalt the humble lemon!! I must get back into eating them!!!

Interesting, I enjoy drinking hot water with lemon, or adding it to regular tea, but I haven't done so in a long time. I'm going to start adding lemon to hot water every morning again now! Thank you for this reminder!
