i have been diagnosed for diabetis. my doctor, a cardiologist, says eating any sweet food is fine as it contains fructose, a form of figure which doesnot contribute to diabetes. the only thing, if i eat fruits like mango and banana i wont be loosing weight. how true is this? cause i hear general practioners telling me that nothing sweet should be taken.also, what is the solution for a problem of 'ingrown toe nail'. i have it in both the toes. doctors here say i'll have to get it removed and that there is no gurantee it would grow properly! if there is a solution to this problem then i might wait and get it done in singapore when i visit there this june. one last thing. i have a couple of warts. how do i fix them? Hi Ace I had two ingrowing toenails on both big toes at the same time. Nail surgery cured it. It was done by local anaesthetic and wasn't too bad, but I had to have lots of follow-up sessions with a chiropodist and I was on antibiotics for a long while. It depends how bad the toes are infected, mine were pretty bad. If you have it done away from home you may want to consider getting a chiropodist close to home in case you need them.IP: Logged |

I am an RN and live in a diabetic-saturated population.Think brown, as far as carbs goes: brown rice, brown bread, brown pasta, etc. Whole grains, check out your foods on the glycemic index and make sure they are low on it. Nothing white, including and especially processed sugars. You could search the net for glycemic tables and find your fruits there. Generally fruits are not so good for diabetics in excess. Too much sugar. Exercise is very important, with diet and exercise alone many are able to control their diabetes. Watch your feet. These get the least amount of circulation, and if sores develop on the feet, could spell trouble. IP: Logged |

Registered NurseThat is a good table. Corn Flakes fall into the "white" catagory, technically, as they are made from corn and a whole bunch of other junk. Foods high on the glycemic index turn to bloog sugar very fast, mess with your pancreas and interrupt the insulin- regulating mechanisms of your body. In a body that already has problems with regulating insulin, it becomes even more of an issue. You need carbs to live, but GOOD carbs. Try to stick to whole grains and stay away from sugars in all forms. I am not diabetic, but I consume a very low carb diet, just feel better doing so. I get my carbs from green leafy veggies, usually eat a salad twice a day. I gave up bread, as much as I used to love it a long time ago. I have always been the carb queen, but have found that I function much better mentally and physically by staying away from large amounts of carbs, of foods that are carb based, like pastas, breads and rice. Sometimes, I consume sprouted grain bread, I have even purchased sprouted hemp bread. It is very expensive but so healthy. Good luck with your diabetes, and please try to keep it under control, it is worth it. In the population that I live many, many people die of heart disease, vascular problems, kidney problmes that all stem from diabetes. IP: Logged |

You probably could go just a bit more. But in all reality, you are a unique individual, every body is a bit different in their bodily functions. What works for one may not work for another. Play with differrent foods and figure out what is right for you! And be sure to be followed by a qualified practitioner, if you are able. IP: Logged |
