Something I'm curious about. A couple of times during my recovery from a back injury, I've experienced symptoms of an over-reactive sympathetic nervous system. It's triggered when my back is really jammed AND I'm under stress. At those times I've been too sensitive to handle soft tissue work or manipulation. My osteopath, physiotherapist, and my doctor all recommended giving my system time to settle down on its own - which is what I did both times. Taking supplements like calcium and magnesium also helps.

Anyway, during those times I have also avoided getting distant reiki and also avoided doing it on myself. I find reiki energy to be a bit much to handle when I self-treat at the best of times. Distant reiki has always been an excellent thing for me in helping my recovery, BUT I'm always too scared to receive reiki when my system is all over-reactive and crazy, in case it overstimulates me even more. At the moment, I jammed my back again and I feel like I'm on the borderline of getting reactive (and yes I'm under a bit of stress at the moment). So I would just like to know, am I doing the right thing in avoiding reiki/energy treatment? I seem to have a gut feeling that I shouldn't get reiki, but unsure if that's just my anxiety/paranoia talking.

So anyone reading this who knows how to send energy, I request that you do not send to me at this time - in case you're thinking of it!

But I'd like to know from anyone who's experienced in this, what your opinion is. I've always felt that reiki and other forms of healing act upon the nervous system. And when I'm like this I'm over-reactive to just about every stimuli. So... opinions?
